What is the photo package that comes with the AP now?

I am purchasing Gold AP's for DD and I. I swore I wouldn't after the price increase along with the price increase for TIW, but DD asked me to come with her on her 21st birthday trip so it just makes sense. Is there a photo package that comes with the Gold AP? We rarely take photos (except for food,LOL) so I'm just wondering if this is a REAL benefit to us.

Its the memory maker you get. So all the photopass photographer's pictures plus ride photos will show up online for you to download. You can also edit and add borders and other effects.

I hate that they have added this and don't let you opt out and pay less, kind of like those hotels that charge a resort fee you have to pay (S/D I'm looking at you) we never take pictures of ourselves, I know what I look like, my son knows what he looks like (he's grown now) and we go so often you can only have so many pictures of Disney without it being too many. It's a waste for us.

Us too. i guess Disney thought they had to "add" something to ease the blow of what they were taking away. Anyway......are the photos actually free or is there a catch?

They are free downloads (not prints). I have a platinum AP, I thought it was actually kind of cool to get the ride photos and videos (7 Dwarfs & Tower of Terror have videos).

I spoke with MS and they said you don't get the capability of adding borders to the pictures that come with the AP's. Doesn't make sense but maybe someone can shed some light on this for me

I just logged back in to double check and I can add the borders/effects to pics from our January trip. Maybe MS was misinformed...

So did I, I have the option of adding borders.

We are long term AP holders, but this is the last straw! Totally makes me mad that they 'make' you get the MM, the cost of the AP rises, and they try to tell you it's basically like an added perk! Don't need/want/use the MM so will no longer get AP's (and consequently go less often).

I think having the photo additon is fine even if I were to decide not use it. Based on Disney's usual history of raising prices and changing options, I am pretty sure the discussion that went on internally was not "let's add the photo package so we can increase the price." The discussion that went on was undoubtedly "we are raising the price (to what it is now) and we are going to do that no matter what; let's throw on the photo package just to make it appear palatable." In other words, I do not assume, like those who feel the photo package should not have been added, that there was ever any chance that price increase would have been lower without it.

Also, on the borders issue, we too have found that you can add the borders for downloads. There was not long ago a short period where you could not but that appeared just to be temporary glitch in the system for the photopass in general.
