House plant...what is the oldest house plant you have?

I don't do plants..they ALWAYS croak on me. I do however, have a cutting that I've had since we got married 32 years ago. It just keeps going and going and going. Some kind of ivy thingie. I was rather surprised when I realized how old the cutting was.

Is a 32 year old cutting considered old? Cutting = lives in water in a clear vase so you can see all it's roots. LOL

What's your oldest plant?

I have been married for almost 18 years and living on my own for 20+...I have none...I kill everything...

I have a few silk arrangements, does that count? :rolleyes1

When we first got married my mom gave us a cutting from an ivy plant she had. We potted it up. DH won't allow me to touch it ;). It is so lush and beautiful. We have been married 24 years next month

My plants all die too. Truthfully I really don't like them inside. I do love them outside though but replace my hanging baskets yearly as they always die when I forget to bring them in & the frost gets them.
If I had anything still alive after 32 years I'd be amazed!
I do have daisies I started about 27 years ago outside & they still come back every year & bloom for me....but no houseplants.

My mom has a plant that is 25 years old. She received as a shower gift before I was born. It does pretty good and she has up in her high bathroom window sill. It is an ivy plant and she has another ivy plant that is 18 years old.

I have one that is 7 weeks old and already experiencing a painful and agonizing death. It put its own DNR sign out.

I have some sort of vine plant that is 22 years old. Got it as a gift when my ex-husband and I moved into our previous house.

I have a huge Aloe Vera cluster that is 12 or 13 years old now. It bloomed last year which surprised me because I had no idea that they bloomed. I've taken cuttings of it and now I have two big Aloe Veras. They are about as hard to move as furniture and appliances.

I have a mother-in-law tongue plant that was part of a little planter that was sent to me when I was getting married 27 years ago. I call it my monster plant because it's so big. I have managed to kill all other plants, unfortunately.

My husband and I bought a plant on our second date. It's 28 years old. We call it our first baby.

I have an aloe plant that was given to me by my grandmother several years ago (she passed away last December). She had the plant for years and inherited it from her sister who died about 15 years ago. Her sister had inherited from her husband's family. There's no telling how old it is. And it's absolutely huge. Just about everyone I know has a start from that plant.

It's the only plant that I've been able to keep alive for more than a few months!

I just had to toss a geranium plant that my son bought for me when he was in readiness! They had a mother's day flower sale and he got me one- never repotted- just watered and lots of sun, kept indoors- my son is now 21!

I have a snake plant that is about 12 years old. It never seems to grow or die. I wondered for a while if it was actually plastic, but then a leaf withered and died.

I throw some water at it when I remember.

Good thing there's no Child Protection Services or SPCA for plants, or some of us would be in big trouble.

Just how big is it? Tall? Wide? Pictures maybe? LOL Seriously......I'm really curious!

I could always keep geraniums alive (I mean they're REALLY hard to kill) but mine always got sooooo leggy and after the first bloom they never blossomed again. How does yours look as an *elderly* geranium?

My dad gave my mom a house plant when I was born. She still has it. She reminds me about it every year on my birthday.
I'm 53.

My Mom got an ivy plant when I was born. I have a cutting off of it and I will be 40 soon.;)

I have a Mother in law's tongue that is 37 yrs old. My mom got in the hospital when I was born. It had several yrs of neglect, and barely survived...so it isn't 'huge'. But it has done well the past 10 yrs and now half of my family has cuttings off of it.
