what is the normal amount of back to school clothes?

I usually go through my ds's closet and dresser before school shopping but I find that not much can ever be rolled over to the next school year. We take really good car of the clothes BUT ds does a lot of sports and grows pretty quickly so we have to buy atleast some jeans and new shirts.

I don't usually set a budget though because we only have one ds to buy for. I don't usually keep track of how much we spend either  I can tell you that so far I've bought 2 pairs of jeans, 4 shirts and a lightweight jacket for $90 at Old Navy and we've spent $50 on his sneakers. We still have to get more jeans, one more pair of shoes for gym days and of course more socks, undies, accessories. Ds uses an Eastpak backpack, it's just like a Jansport but it was way cheaper, I bought it 2 years ago at Target and it's still in great condition but it's dirty. I'm going to wash it up and then we'll see if it can be used another year, if not then we'll add that to the school shopping list.

well..........

DD 7 going into 3rd grade has 9 pairs of pants, 8 short sleeve, 5 long sleeve, 4 hoodies, 2 pair sneakers, 1 pair of shoes, socks/undies, 2 skorts, 1 dress

DD9 going into 4th grade has 8 pair of pants, 9 short sleeve, 4 long sleeve, 5 hoodies, 2 pair sneakers, 1 pair shoes, socks undies (no dresses/skirts)

I spent almost $400.00 total, and thats with 4 pair of Sketchers :goodvibes Add in the rest of their school stuff, like hair ties, book bags, etc. we're probably up to $500.00 but their father gave me $$ for 1/2 of it.

I did luck out though and find them columbia ski pants and jackets on clearance last spring, so I saved HUNDREDS of dollars then...probably at least 200 easy on that purchase.

This year, for the first time, DD must carry a clear or mesh backpack. I bought her one at Office Depot which seems to be the sturdyest one I've found. When she put in her supplies it stretches some. I have a feeling that with the load she usually carries it won't last long. Has anyone found a clear or mesh backpack that holds up well? She is in Jr. High and carries alot of books. This is the first year her school has required clear or mesh and the girls especially aren't pleased with the idea.

I can understand why the school would want clear or mesh, but it certainly doesn't give privacy to girls & I don't think they'll hold up all too well.

My name is Tiffany and I am a shopaholic.......... :rotfl:
I love "back to school shopping" for my DD9 and DS10
But, to my defense :goodvibes the rest of the year I shop sale, cut coupons, advance buy for x-mas and b-days - blah, blah, blah....... I will always and have always spent more $$ on good quality ~ it lasts twice as long and I hand everything down to my neices and nephews ;) anything left goes to charity.

How much do I spend???? I'll tell you what I tell my DH...
:confused3 "umm, I don't know exactly.... but I got some great deals!"
 :rotfl2: :rotfl:
