What is the next process? Wait time until I can book?? I think there is a website to see if the title was transferred. Any help with this next process would be great...thank you guys for being so helpful thru this entire purchase!

What does your broker and title company say? Since their business is contracts and deeds and they deal with Disney every day, I would think that they could give you the best information.

I asked the title company/broker and have not heard back from them today. Although I'm sure they will get back to me with the standard 2 week, 30 days, ETC answer. BUT when I ask the wonderful people of Disboards I get real life answers from people going through the same process at the same time. Which is very nice to know what to expect and almost a buying support group too.

So thank you to everyone willing to give me sweet answers, your time, and thoughts

While other DIS experiences can be helpful, all we can provide is a best guess, not information on your closing. On a couple of the contracts that we purchased resale, by calling the broker and title company we found that in one case the title company failed to file the deed. In the other case our file was on the desk of a person who was on vacation.

These people are being paid to provide a service and I expect them to earn their money.

Check the Orange County Comptroller's site daily to see when your deed is filed. 10 days later, start calling Member Accounting (Phone option #3), and ask for your Member ID. They might not have you in the system yet, so call back each day until they do. It could take a week or so, worst case.

Now you wait to get your member number and book your first vacation. =) I literally, five seconds ago, got off the phone and booked my first stay as a DVC member.. So here is how my timeline went at the end, hopefully it helps you.

3/16 Seller/buyer docs received by closing company.
3/18 Deed recorded on OC Comptroller site
3/26 Began calling everyday for member number.
3/30 Received member number and booked first vacation for Nov 6-16 in a 2br @ AKV Kidani

I am signed up for the Wine and Dine 1/2 marathon and my birthday is the 8th. Woo hoo!!

Once the deed is recorded on the OC Comptroller's site is the timeframe to get points loaded any shorter if the buyer is already a DVC member and the new contract has the same use year and is titled the same as the existing contract (and therefore should be under the same membership number)?

It doesn't seem to be much different. I am in that situation, closed on 3/23, deed recorded on 3/24. I am an existing member, and the new contract is same UY and titled the same. I am on day 8 after the deed was recorded and still no points have shown up. New members are able to see points loaded at day 11 or so. Doesn't seem to make a huge difference that we are already members.

Seems to be shorter by a day or two. But you can just check your account, so there's not much use in worrying about it; calling is pointless for existing members.

Thanks for the response.

May I ask....what do I look for on the comptrollers site? Want to make sure I'm doing it right. This has been the LONGEST purchase of my life...ugh!

I would love to know that information as well, although we are buying at VGC and I have to look on the CA orange county site.
