Isi t basically bread fried in butter w/ cheese & ham & then dipped in eggs & fried some more? Care for heart attack? ;)

I'll try anything once & I love food, be it really bad for you food & really good for you food. But I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around a greasy sandwich that just hits your belly like a ton of bricks.

Am I missing something?

Well I'd say you'd be missing something if you didn't try it at least once.
Here's a picture of mine from Cafe New Orleans, which I happened to like more than the one I had at Blue Bayou. It is VERY rich...so it would be very do-able if you were to split it, But yea you have to try it just once.

Looks to me like all the food groups are covered: :cool1:

- meat.
- dairy.
- fruits.
- grain.
- (& aren't strawberries a veggie?)

Even covers the deep fried & powdered sugar food groups. :thumbsup2

hound - :cool2:

I agree with MommyWithDreams...you gotta try it once! Order it at Cafe Orleans along with an order of their garlic fries and split it. The garlic fries are to die for!!!

Well basically if a donut and a ham sandwich got married, a Monte Cristo would be their love child. Its definitely greasy but to me doesn't feel any more so than a burger, a reuben or other heavy handed type sandwiches. To me a burger pretty much hits the stomach like a ton of bricks too. Give it a try although if it grosses you out just thinking about it, maybe just skip it and know your heart may thank you until you eat something else thats just as bad for you! I agree that splitting is a good idea, dh and I always do that.

You can get it without the icing sugar sprinkled on top. Some like it, but I find it way too sweet to eat with it on there. I dont think its a taste that should be on there anyway... but thats just my opinion.

Oh and I don't like the dipping stuff...I think it's syrup? Not sure but that I couldn't do.

I NEVER EVER wanted to order one! The description of it.....the ingredients.....YUCK! It just never sounded even remotely good to me AT ALL!!!

DH has heard so much about it over the years, he just HAD to finally try one. So, just this last November, while having lunch at Cafe New Orleans, DH ordered one. (For some reason I can't remember what I ordered.) Anyway, DH offered me a bite, powdered sugar and dipping sauce included, and it was.........DELICIOUS!!!!!:thumbsup2

Yes, it is greasy. But, oh so sinfully good!

And I actually think it's easier and lighter on your stomach than a burger and fries, but then again, it's not served with fries.:goodvibes

It's actually really good. I didnt say healthy, right? ;) We ate at BB and I was so sure I woudlnt like anything on the menu. I was pretty sure I would be stuck with the kids' PBJ. This thing is GOOD! I dont recall the sauce as I didnt eat it. But the potatoes (augraten) were FAB! It wasnt covered in powdered sugar.

But the fried outside is the best part! LOL And the berry sauce is sooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The BEST sandwich ever. And no, it didn't hit my stomach like a ton of bricks at all. In fact the burger I had at Hungry Bear made me feel much yuckier than the Monte Cristo did....man, I really want one of those.....maybe I'll splurge this weekend and get myself one. :) I loved the whole thing, the sandwich, the sauce, the potatoes...mmmmmmmm

Yes...as you're coming off the Pirates ride make a right, you'll see it right on your left side.
