What is the least popular room and view at BLT?

We're going to do a waitlist for 3 nights of our trip at BLT. We would like to try the resort, but won't be upset if the waitlist doesn't come through. :) We will be a party of 6 (mom, dad, 3 8-year olds, and a 5 month old). We can only have one waitlist. My in-laws are staying in a room at the Contemporary the whole time, so some of my kids can sleep in their room if we only get a studio or 1 bedroom. The baby would of course stay with us, but the older kids would think it was fun to stay with grandma and grandpa. So, if you could only do one waitlist at BLT, what room type and view would it be?

Lake view has the largest percentage of rooms, so you have the best chance of that wait list coming through.

Your party legally fits into the 1 bedroom since the 6th is an infant. 1 bedrooms are generally less popular than studios or 2 bedrooms. As pp says, lake view is largest category of rooms.

I'd waitlist for a 1 bedroom lake view. Good luck!

the least popular room/view would probably be the parking lot view room for theme park view pts...

but for deciding what to waitlist, lake view rooms would be the most likely option to work out.

I think I'll do 1 bedroom lake view. Thanks for the advice! :thumbsup2 Good to know we "legally" fit into that room...although there is not a chance in heck we're all staying in it if it comes through! I love my 2 bedrooms with the kids and their noise, chatter, and activity in another room! We'll let grandma and grandpa enjoy that in their room. :rotfl:

When are you going? I arrive at BLT Monday and today I decided to see if I could add an extra day.

We got it. So I have 5 days in a 2br MK (7 people) then move to a 1 br LK view (5 people, my parents are leaving) for the extra day

I hope you get it!

Not until January. :) 1 of the 3 nights is available, but I will have to waitlist the other 2. Have a great trip!!

sorry you could not get the entire thing.

with blt would definitely make the reservation for elsewhere just in case BLT does not come thru for you.

We booked VWL as our back up. We've never tried that resort so either way we'll get to experience something new! :thumbsup2

I don't know how the waitlists work in terms of what triggers them, but twice now we've been waitlisting BLT and have got what we wanted by keeping an eye on availability online, rather than through the waitlist process.

At the 7 month window we were hoping to book a one-bed for 6 nights. We had to waitlist a couple. The next day we checked again via the online system and our two missing nights were showing availability. The automatic waitlist hadn't kicked in, so we phoned Member Services and they sorted it out for us.

Fast forward to last week when my brother and sister-in-law decided they wanted to join us for a few nights. We tried to book a studio, but there was no availability at all. We weren't in the least bit surprised - we'd warned them that we'd probably have to waitlist and that's what we did. Discussing their options with them the following day, and spelling out that there was no guarantee the waitlist would come through, we decided to book a back-up and went online to see which resorts had availability. We were astounded when BLT came up as an option. Once again, we phoned Member Services to pick through it all.

I suppose I imagined that a cancellation would automatically trigger the waitlist process, but clearly that's not the case. Not that I would have expected it to come through for us in the second instance because, assuming it works on a first-come, first-served basis, there's no way we would have been at the head of the line. Were it an automatic mechanism, though, someone would have been lucky and the system would be showing no availability. Maybe it happens at set times. :confused3

I know this isn't actually a response to your question, but I thought it might be helpful. :)

Oh I'm quite sure I'll be stalking the DVC website! :lmao: I was thinking there might be a higher chance right around now since it's the 7 month window and those that had reservations in place for BLT but are trying to switch resorts would be likely to give up rooms at this time.

So when you called Member Services, they were able to see the same availability you saw online? It makes me nervous that in the time it takes me to call, get a representative, etc., the availability will be gone. I couldn't just book it online myself though because I would need to cancel the other reservation in order to free up points.

Yes, on both occasions. She was as surprised as me at the availability last week.

We were in the same position which is why we had to call. We were warned that availability could disappear in the time it took to cancel the previous reservation, but we got lucky. It's a daft system - they should be able to put it on hold whilst they deal with the first part of the transaction.
