What do you do when you step into the park on the first day of your trip?

Right when I first get to Disneyland I have to go on Space Mountain. Or if I didn't eat on the plane, then I go eat breakfast at the Carnation Cafe.

I grab a coffee on Main Street and wander over to New Orleans Square. I'm not one to rush to rides, as I usually am staying for a few days.

We always stop and read the little plaque on the train tunnel- Here you leave......... Its a "must" to start the trip. After that, on the last couple of trips, we have went to find lunch! Ds is typically begging to go on Buzz first thing. DD doesn't really care what we do first.

Get a FP for SM then goto Indy is almost a ritual for my dad and myself, my mom and brother attempt to keep up. :rotfl: Then pirates then back to SM:thumbsup2

Are y'all getting tired of me saying it yet? :rolleyes1

Peter Pan First! Peter Pan ALWAYS First!! :thumbsup2

Well, in the past when I've travelled in low season, we've always started by riding the railroad the first thing, to absorb the full park flavor, and either get off along the way or make a complete circuit. In our upcoming trip (in July..)we'll be running for Peter Pan, I think

I usually try to ride the ride I rode very last on my previous trip. Our last night at DL or WDW when we ride the last ride, I always say to my family, soon we'll be riding this ride on our first day on our next trip! We also always eat at the last restaurant first too. We are weird but somehow it makes the last ride less sad knowing it will be the first thing we do next time.

Mostly the first thing I do is get teary, its so good to be back. One week from today I am there! Oh, and Mr. Toad will be the first thing we ride since last June I rode it at 11:59 p.m. before going home the next morning!

Yep we do the same, we enter the main park gates and read the sign, take a deep breath and plunge into the world of childhood. After that we just wander the shops on Mainstreet and grab a drink and a corn dog to wake us up as we always get morning flights and havent had anything to consume for about 8 hours.

Only if your first day starts in the morning. If you arrive mid day there is no sense in waiting in that LONG line!

We were so excited for our first trip last fall! I'd read so much about the park, but still didn't have a good mental picture of the layout, so the first time we walked in, I just soaked up all the scenery: The Mickey Head flowers, the plaque over the tunnel, the quaint buildings on Main Street! I couldn't believe that I was finally in DL, after over 40 years of waiting! Yes, darn it, there were tears in my eyes.

I'd been advised by one of the CMs (who confirmed our reservations) to have my camera ready to capture my DS6's first sight of the castle, and I thought that was a wonderful idea! So I was ready with the trigger finger, but he was just looking around, pointing to various toys, and so forth as we walked down Main Street. I finally asked him, "Wow, honey, look how pretty the castle is!" and raised my camera.

"Huh? What castle? I don't see a castle," he said. And the photo looks pretty much like you'd expect. So much for that momentous occasion. :lmao:

Lol! The concept of actually entering the park later than park opening is so foreign to me. We have never done that. Our first day is normally a Sunday morning and I am in line at the gates at least 45 minutes prior to opening. That's why PP is always first for us.

It depends on what time we get there, if it's meal time then I'm hitting the corndog cart, but if it's ride time then it's BTMRR baby!

We're going for 3 days in August. We're planning on one of the days to head directly to the new submarine ride at opening. We figure the lines will be very long and our best chance of riding will be first thing in the morning. We rode the old submarine years ago and have been anxiously waiting for them to do something new with the lagoon!

It used to be head straight for Peter Pan but now that Nemo is open and the lines will be long for awhile (we are going in late August) we will book it to Nemo.

I always go to Famtasy land frist whether in DW or DL, I just absorb all the sounds and sights there before I even go on a ride. :cool1:

DH and I don't have anything set that we do each time. We usually walk hand in hand down Main Street with huge smiles on our faces, then we start talking about what we want to do first.

We have never made it there for opening on our first day of the trip and I wouldn't like waiting until the next day to start. I did it this time, only because we had people with us who only had 5 day PH, but we got there so late anyway. I was OK with just spending time at DTD and checking out the GCH.

Well NORMALLY (esp when it is crowded) we go straight to splah and get a FP then back to Pirates then to Indy and then over to Space to get another FP. Now this plan has changed since pirates has become so popular and it will change again this trip since we have to hit Nemo. But we usually try no matter what to get a FP for splash and then go on a few of the long wait rides in NOS.

Then get our space pass and usually ride it if the line isn't too long yet. Then usually do matterhorn and by then it is time for lunch.

On our trip this summer though one day we are going to have to head STRAIGHT to nemo. When we go to DCA it is straight to Soarin do it and get a FP for later and then to TOT. Then usually to Screamin. Not sure how that is going to work with it not opening till later. But this trip on our last park day we are going to take it easy and do ALL the stuff we would never normally stop and take the time to do. We are going to ride the canoes, go to TSI, go to innoventions etc.

Mom and I did that a few years back and it was SO nice to have a relax day. If there is a ride close by with a short wait we will go but that day is mostly reserved for the other stuff.
