Monorail or the gate? We are staying at the DLH... A friend of mine got back and said that the Monrail doesn't start checking / loading people until the park actually opens.... so you don't get in the park until approx 15 min after the EE begins.... true? I want to maximize that EE hour!!

TIA

The day we did EE we took the monorail. We were first in line for the monorail and when we got off the monorail we were the 2nd family into Peter Pan. So, we were VERY happy about the timing! I guess it could depend on who's working the monorail on the day, and how fast your family/group can walk (our middle daughter has Down Syndrome and can't walk as fast as everyone else, so the monorail was goooooooooood...).

Regards Jenn

I'm interested in how this worked out for others as well. The monorail is definitely closer to DLH and we are considering that hotel for our stay.

Thanks!

I am to a little confused about which way to go. We have been to DL but have never ued EE before. We are staying at GC do you think it is faster to go to the gate or use monorail? We have never road the monorail before either? Thanks

From the DLH we usually just walked up to the gate pretty early. But then again that was when the monorail wasn't fully up and running, and we were finding it pretty much always faster to walk in to the park.

The last time we utilized EE we were at Paradise Pier. We hopped on the monorail at exactly 7 am (the time the park opened for EE - it was a Saturday) and we were the second trip of the day. The first one was at about 6:45 am. We still entered plenty early and rode all the FL rides numerous times. The crowds did not seem to start appearing until about 9 am. I don't know if the monorail starts early only on EE days or weekends or ???, but I thought it was a great way to go, it cut our walking time from hotel to park entrance by about half. Then on Sun (non EE day), we walked thru the front gates and experienced the beginning of our day differently. Have a great trip.:)

I have read so many differnt suggestions about this one. I really could not tell you for sure which is the best route either. We are staying at the DL hotel as well and will ahve teh same delima. Not sure which way we will go either, lol.

My family (in other words...ME :) ) is serious about using EE effectively since (both times) our DLR visit has only been 3 days. I think it is essential to DO FantasyLand during EE because they are slow loading rides with lines that build throughout the day. (especially if you only have 2-3 days at DLR). My opinion on EE:

- Arrive 30 min. prior to EE.
- Ride PP, Dumbo, Alice & Matterhorn in order to avoid lines on these.
- To ensure getting there 30 min. prior to EE opening, we have & will always WALK to the front gate. (Stayed at the PP last time and the Fairfield the first time).

Thankfully, many visitors (probably non dis'ers) aren't as serious about EE. Each of the EE days we have been fortunate to experience 10-12 rides & pick up a FP at SM or Indy (during the first 90 minutes). Then we relax with a nice Breakfast & watch the folks who chose to sleep in...... begin their day with their initial crowded walk down Main St. ;)

That is very true Hound. I am thinkning back to our trip two years ago, ME, DW, DS 5 and DD 3 were at the gate about 6:30am for a 7:00 opening. On a side note meet HydroGuy in line, but we rode about 10+ rides by 9:30 or 10:00. We then went over to Carnation Cafe and had a great breakfast. We then went on a few more rides tehn left the park and went bak to teh hotel for awhile since teh lines were getting long. People on the monorail did not get into teh park unitl a few minutes later. But again that was two years ago, so times may have changed. If first monorail leave DTD at 6:45 and Nemo is an EE attraction, that may be your best bet.

Does the first monorail leave DTD before the front gates open recently and arrive just as the parks opens?
