What is the difference between earbuds and ear pods

My DGD is asking for “apple EarPods 2nd generation “

My DS said she tried Walmart but said they were sold out
But when I looked it up there were several different types and prices for either

Any advice
I suppose I could just ask her I’d like to keep this as a surprise

Earbuds are a generic term. AIRpods are Apple's version. Pretty sure she wants 2nd generation AIRpods.

Are you sure she said second generation?
Those came out several years ago and most likely can’t be found it stores anymore.

I think of earbuds was being wired and earpods as being wireless/Bluetooth.

but when I went on line I probably saw the ones she was looking at just going on price
they showed so many and unfortunately they all look the same to me

I’m not 100% sure is disboards will filter out a Best Buy link but if I had to guess, these are the ones she wants. Your son must have misunderstood her when he said 2nd generation. She probably said AirPod pro 2

You can always get a gift receipt but I am fairly confident these are the ones she would want at 17 years old.

I suggest you ask your son to clarify again. Or post the photos he sent you. Even though they are white, there really are subtle differences in the two models previous posted linked to. The Pro 2 has soft squishy tips that fit better and more comfortably in the ear. It also has the noise canceling feature.

The 2nd generation model has a hard plastic end that goes in the ear. (It may not bother a 17 yr old.) Noise canceling probably wasn't invented back when it came out. She may definitely want this if she's around other teens who are chattering away around her all the time.

Get the pros. They are much more comfortable and just better. We purchased ours from Costco a couple years back when they had them on sale.
