What is the chance of getting patio seating at R & C?

We have an ADR at 7:20 for 4 people at Rose and Crown. What are the chances that we'll get patio seating for Illuminations? I've never been to WDW so I have no idea how many tables are outside, is it 10% of the restaurant, 25%?? I made the ADR because I have read about what an amazing view it is, and I've always wanted to try fish and chips. However, if our chances of sitting outside are slim to none, I'll just get fish and chips at the CS restaurant. Anyone have any idea if there is a good chance of sitting outside? Is it worth it to eat there without the view?

Thanks!!

Well- I think it's worth eating there cuz I really like it :-) But I woudl say about 25%ish is outside- so the "odds" are not that great. However- I think that u can help make your own odds a little bit.
Arrive a good 15-20 minutes early and when you put your name in ask as nicely as possible if there is any way to request patio seating. Also, if you have any sort of special occasion, bring that up then as well. It can't hurt and it def can help. But I still wouldn't count on it.
Either way it'll be a great meal- but def has that added bonus when you're outside!

You can't request patio seating. You have to take the first available table or they won't seat you, sorry.

They "say" that u can't request patio seating- but all i know is the last time we ate there I requested patio seating and the guy was very nice and said "Well, i have to seat u wherever the next table opens, but I'll do my best" and then we got perfect illumination view patio seats. So who knows...

It doesn't hurt to ask and be as nice as possible. We had a 7:50 reservation there last year and were celebrating our anniversary, when we checked in I asked for a seat on the patio. They said they couldn't take requests but not to worry because there is an area on the patio where you can go to view the show even if you are seated inside. When they called our name the CM's all looked really excited and it turned out we had the perfect seat for Illuminations!

You really can't ask for patio seating there. When I had the IPO office make our reservations, I was told that even they are not allowed to make ANY requests for tables at R & C.

We've gotten a patio table three times out of the five times we've asked. They can't guarantee them though, as everyone wants them at that time of night.

We were lucky enough to be seated on the patio a few years ago. I didn't even mention the patio when we checked in. :)

I would recommend keeping your ADR because if you are seated inside, your server will take you to the outside viewing area. This area is separate from the outside dining area so you won't be disturbing anyone as they dine. Either way, it really is a win/win situation for getting to see Illuminations! :thumbsup2

BTW - the UK pavilion doesn't have a CS restaurant, it's more like a kiosk that sells fish and chips. ;)

I've never requested patio seating, but we've always been seated on the patio. We'd actually like to make it into the building at this point just to see what it looks like inside :)

AND, if you have the dining plan, those chips are a snack credit!! :thumbsup2

When you check in for your ADR simply ask that you be seated on the patio if a table there is available - that's all you can do. Sometimes you get it and sometimes you don't. It's the same situation as CA Grill, where everyone wants a window table because of the view.

The later the ADR the more difficult it can be to end up with a patio table because the people who are already there won't want to leave before Illuminations.

Good luck and enjoy your dinner! We're big fans of Rose & Crown regardless of where we're seated. :goodvibes

There are "amazing views" of Illuminations from all around the World Showcase lagoon. Basically, any spot around the lagoon where the view is not blocked by a structure or a tree is as good as any other spot. So, don't stress out about getting the patio table at R&C. If you don't, there will be plenty of other great places from which to see the show.

Thanks everyone!! I'll keep the ADR because I really am looking forward to those fish and chips, and I'd rather eat them in a restaurant than from a kiosk. Besides, I've seen pictures of the sticky toffee dessert thing and it looks yummy!
