I've looked, and I can't find it. I'm going to book a trip for a friend, but there is a chance they'll have to cancel. We only do DVC, so I don't know what the policy is. How many days out do they have before there is a penalty or fee? It would be a package.

This is from my confirmation...

45 days and earlier - all money refunded minus booking fees. 44 to 6 days prior, $100 cancellation fee per package plus fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers. 5 days or less, $200 per package plus plus fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers.

Changes can be made at no penalty up to 45 days out. After 44 days, a $50 change fee is applied.

There is actually some confusion about this for room only reservations (I know you asked about packages - I will get to that). Various people have reported receiving different cancellation notices.

The safe answer (for package bookings) is to cancel no later than 46 days before the first hotel stay. What is confusing is whether a discounted but non-package booking (discounted room only) is more than 5 or more than 45 days.

Of course, your friend should look at their booking receipt to be sure.
