What is the building by It's a Small World?

Yesterday while standing in a very llooonnnnggg line for Peter Pan's Flight, I noticed a structure, or series of structures, immediately to the left of It's a Small World; looks like it backs up to Haunted Mansion. It was obviously used for something at one time because there are walkways and stairs up to it (currently blocked by a trash can). Does anyone know what it is?

that building is no longer used. It was one of the sky ride stations before the towers and cables were removed

Its been vacant forever... I would of thought by now Disney would of done something with it....

Isn't the old Skyway station a stroller parking area now?

Thanks for the pictures and a stroll down memory lane. Having seen how obtrusive the whole ride looks now, I am glad they did away with it. Also, they did use the area once for character meets.

I'm really surprised Disney has never done anything with the remaining building. My DH and I always thought it would be a neat place for a TS.

I'm wondering if any of you "in the know" Dis'ers know why the Skyway ride was taken down? I loved it as a child and am just curious ... Thanks for any info :)

I was wondering the same thing? Those kind of rides always scared me, so I was wondering is it was a safety thing or just because it was an eye sore? :confused3

It was closed down because of safety-The wind and the thunderstorms that FL has led to the closing of the ride. I remember a big time stopping of the ride one time we were there- and people were stuck up there for a looooong time. I really loved it as a child though. And those photos are too funny- check out the guy in the tank!

There was also an incident in which a CM died on the skyway, very sad. All the cars are still in the building in Tomorrowland.

I think the building will always be there, because it hides the haunted mansion...

WOW! Thanks for the photos. I love the sky ride when I was a child. I will have to say I miss it. As a child it was one of my fav. :goodvibes

OK, I give. What the heck is a TS? :confused3

Actually, TS = TimeShare. DVC is currently planning on putting condos in the old building. If it sells well, they'll put a few units in the Tower of Terror as well.

It would be a nice place for a TS! MK needs another TS badly!

Except that there is actually no space behind it for a TS "building."

As was mentioned, HM's "ride structure" is right behind the tiny skyway depot already.

Yes, a great TS restaurant would be a nice addition.

My favorite Disneyland restaurant is the "Blue Bayou" inside the PoC attraction. The tables are visible from the DL PoC boats as they ride along the river right after loading.

I'd like to see that restaurant in WDW (although it could not be "inside" PoC in MK).

Rediculous!

They can't sell the DVC units that they have inside the Tree of Life... of course that may be due to the infestation of BUGS!
