What is the best way to travel from Vancouver, BC / Seattle

Hi,

We have never been to Orlando before and are thinking about taking the kids next Spring to Disneyworld and maybe do a Disney Cruise. After a bit of researching, we found out that there is transportation transfer that we can purchase with DCL on getting from Disney World to Port Canaveral.

Wondering if there is anyone here who can give us some advice on how to best fly over and which stopovers are better. Our kids are young (6 and younger). When I look at Expedia, there seems to be so many combinations, and with the pricing and options, it looks like we would be better flying out of Seattle although we live in Vancouver, BC.

All I know is that we don't want to fly on United from previous bad experience.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We usually fly on Alaska from Sea. It is a non stop flight. It may be a little more expensive but quite convenient. Usually leaves at about 8:45 and gets in at about 5:15. It's a 5.5 to 6 hr flight but no stops. We're taking it when we go in Oct. The return flight leaves at 6:25 PM or so and gets in at 9:30. We have also taken the DCL bus and it picks you up at your hotel and your luggage will arrive at your stateroom in the late afternoon.

We live over on the Island and prefer to fly out of Bellingham. Allegiant is a seriously no frills airline, but they are dirt cheap.

Alaska, Jet Blue, and Southwest all fly out of Seattle to MCO (orlando) or TPA (Tampa) and by checking their flights and deals you'll find around $250-$400 round trip pretty regularly.
Occasionally you see a Southwest $99 each way flight and you should snap those up!

We park at the America's Best Value Inn SEATAC and get 7 nights parking with one overnight stay for around $100. Additional parking is 5-8/night.

Considering how much you'll save on the airfare it's a great deal.

I should also mention that Alaska and Southwest both do Kids Fly Free to Disney events a couple times a year. It's worth it to see if you can get that.

We always fly from SEA-MCO via Alaska Airlines! :) I highly suggest it, mainly because of the nonstop flight. I believe it's the only airline out of Seattle that flies to MCO directly. For us, we have always taken the red-eye flight, leaving at around 11pm and getting us in at around 7am. It's perfect for us every time we go. Then we usually catch the morning flight back to Seattle, getting us in at around 11am.

There are definitely other airlines you can fly with, but will not be nonstop flights. Also, might I suggest you apply for the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card... because you get a $99 companion fare, one per year, just for simply HAVING the card. So basically, every time we go to Disney World, we pay for one ticket (around 450-480), then pay $99 for my husband to fly. It also works if you fly first class, too!

This is very bizzare advice, as Allegiant does not fly to Orlando ( or anywhere near) from Bellingham.

In fact it does not fly from anywhere on the West Coast to anywhere on the East Coast.

????

We are flying Southwest. We are saving $ over any other airlines, and litterally thousands over any Canadian airlines. Add in 2 free bags per person and a layover becomes a very small price to pay!

One thing to factor into Alaska Airlines is even though it's direct, on the way home you get in quite late. Maybe not a factor for you, but we live on the Island and it would mean another night in a Hotel.

We leave at 8:10am get in at 1:10 local time, and can easily be home that night.

Whoops! I didn't see that she was heading to Orlando.

Head on down to Seattle as other posters have said. Even if Allegiant did do it, you'd definitely need to check baggage/carryons and it would end up being cheaper to fly another airline.

We are also in the Vancouver area. Our past trips to Florida have been flying out of YVR and we have used both Westjet and Air Canada, for convenience sake, but only if I was able to find a low fare. We never book round trip flights because I was always able to find a better return price with another airliner. Many people seem to fly out of Bellingham via Alaska but for my dates I was never able to find a low enough fair to justify the extra trip.

It is a totally different story for our upcoming trip this holiday season and understandably so because it is the busiest time of year. Flights are outrageously high leaving from YVR. I monitored many combination of flights for several months before booking with Southwest. We are visiting relatives first before heading to WDW and so we had the option of flying into Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach or Miami. The lowest airfare was with Southwest and it saves us even more because they allow two checked bags for free whereas most other airlines charge $25.00 each bag, and for a family of four that adds on another $100. We are leaving out of Orlando but I didn't book with Southwest because with the flight and shuttle we would be getting home too late and the kids have school the next morning. I was able to find a good price with a decent return time into YVR through Delta.

Keep in mind to book early if you see a good rate. We booked in June and I now see that even Southwest flights are more than double what we paid. Most of the low fares seem to involve one or two stopovers and for us it is worth the inconvenience and our kids are older. With kids 6 and under I would probably want to limit the stopover to not more than one. One last thing, you mentioned flying in Spring, we flew to Florida last spring break for a cruise and I never expected to find a decent fare out of YVR at that time of year. However, I found a good price with Air Canada departing and returning but I had to book separately in order to get the best deal for both. Good luck finding your fares!
