What is the best time to cross the border?

What time of day (or night) is the best time to cross the border? We will be leaving mid week (Sept.) and crossing in Windsor.

We cross the border almost weekly at Windsor and very rarely are there any long waits. Even if it looks like a lot of cars are waiting you will usually get through within 10-15 minutes. Last Saturday we crossed around noon and drove right up to the booth!

When my family and I drive into the United States from Windsor at the Ambassador Bridge we usually arrive just after 6:00 AM and wait around 10 - 15 minutes, which is not that bad of a wait.

We crossed the Ambassador Bridge a couple of years ago into MI at 12:30 p.m on a Friday afternnon. Took longer to pay the toll than US Customs

We cross at Fort Erie, not Windsor. When travelling to WDW we always have a 6 am flight booked out of Buffalo. Because I NEED to be early we always leave the house at about 1:45 or 2 am (we're about 45 minutes from Ft Erie). The last time we went, we experienced our biggest line ever - 1 car in front of us. Last weekend we went over for the day and waited about 40 minutes in line.
