What is the best stragedy to get this to work?

We own SS and would like to stay at BCV this time in the fall. (Oct-Nov 08) We are flexible with our dates but want to get there before the weather gets too chilly to do the waterparks. What is the best strategy to make this work as I know BCV is popular anyway and that time of the year it is worse. Should I pick a week and then just keep calling and adding on a day at a time. (I would of course reserve SS at 11 months too). Which week should I pick where I would have more of chance and should I call day by day and add a day? If I do that I would assume CS would have to release the points for 1 day from SS because of the points and so on. thanks~

If it were me, I'd plan to call day by day for the time I wanted. I'd call as soon as MS opens for the day - including on Saturday. If you don't have enough points to hold the entire SSR reservation, this strategy does involve the risk of having to move between BCV & SSR. IMHO, that risk is minimal because SSR is so large. If you don't get everything you want at BCV, you can almost surely cancel what you did get and reserve SSR again if you don't want to move.

As far as the week - my advice is to stay away from the November dates. The first weekend in November is the Funai golf classic and the NJ schools have a couple of days off in early November. That means you will have a lot of competiton for the BCV at 7 months. There are lots of NJ DVC members who like to visit at that time.

Actually, I'd call MS soon and ask the CM what availability looks like for October at the BCV. If you call when they aren't busy - late afternoon,you are more likely to get a CM to take the time to help you. The CM can help you choose the time with the most availability and thus the best chance for you to be successful at the 7 month mark.

Thanks for the great advice, just to clarify though, that this is for 2008. (i'm early I know). Would your same advice for November 2007 be the same for November 2007? Golf Classic - dates will change, but we will know ahead of time for 2008. I think I read something that this is the last year Disney will be one of the locations on the Pro Tour, but I could be wrong. Up until this year, I belive the golf tournament was in October. FWIW, I don't think the Golf tournament puts much of a strain on DVC reservations, but the NJ members do. There are a lot of them!

The dates for the NJ Teachers' Convention are almost always in the first week of November. For 2008, the convention is November 6 & 7. That means many will take their children out of school for that entire week.

Up to you how you want to try for a week - there is lots of competiton for the smaller WDW DVC rsorts at the 7 month mark, so the best chance for you is to call day by day for what you want and hope to get lucky.

October is also F&W at Epcot - a very popular time at BCV (& BWV). One of the reasons you'll often hear 'buy where you want to stay'.

I did talk to a CM about this at one point and she said it is doable, it will just require persistance but we can get it to work. We stayed at BWV last May but wanted to try the fall this time so I banked the points and they expire the fall we want to use them so if we would just stay at SS since carrying the points over will not work. thanks
