What is the best ride to go on with a 47 year old mother and father?

This question always cracks me up -- like once you hit 40 or whatever -- you have to watch the rides you go on....What rides and shows and attractions they will enjoy is dependent on what they like.

Its like asking what ride willl a 20 year old like - some are afraid of heights, don't like the dark, whatever...some may also have physical limitations...just depends on the person.

to idofabric (i do fabric as well :flower: ):

My husband and I are both on the wrong side of 40. When my youngest graduated from high school we took her and her two older brothers to WDW for the "last" time (on my pocketbook). We really did ditch them. They were SO SLOW. They wanted to sleep until 10 or 11 every day. Unbelievable! One night we went to Pleasure Island. The boys wanted to go to Mannequin's. Since their sister was only 18 at the time, we went with her to Motion, then went to Comedy Warehouse and the Adventurer's Club. After that we went to 8Trax. I had stressed to the boys the importance of not missing the last bus at 2 am back to the resort unless they were willing to fork over cab fare. When we got back to the room at 12:30, they were BOTH in bed ASLEEP! The next morning while DH and I enjoyed AK, they slept in because "we were up too late."

By the way, we ride EVERYTHING!

I'm 47 and I don't have one foot in the grave and one foot on a banana peel. I'll go on anything in WDW, (except MS).

Thanks for all the tips!! Do any of you like Mission Space? I was scared to go on it last year on our trip...but I think I might want to try it this time....suggestions for me (the teen) and my parents........ :sad2:
My stepsister and stepdad rode Mission Space while we were there about a week and a half ago. Both hated it. My stepsister is a total daredevil and she walked off very nauseous saying she'd never ride again. And she'll ride just about anything. My stepdad also looked pretty queasy. Neither one returned to their normal selves for at least 2 hours.

My husband and I are both older than your parents and we ride everything except teacups.

My husband's dad is 83 -- and he rides EVERYTHING.

:rotfl2: At our age" :rotfl: " we forget that these youngsters think we're old. Myself and my DH are 48 and we love everything. It really depends on your parents. Myself I cannot ride the Tea cups or anything that goes in a tight circle like that as my stomache will no longer let me. Now give me all the rollercoasters that you have. Also some simulator rides get to me as well. If your parents have not been to an amusement park in a while, they may want to try 1 simulated ride first to see how they will react. Don't let them eat first.....Most of us in their 40's and 50's were the fortunate ones to grow up going to amusement parks of all kinds. Good luck on your trip hope you have a wonderful time.

How about a nice slow train ride? ...or MISSION SPACE! Thanks goodness DD7 is a daredevil, and willing to go on BTM, SM, TOT, and in 26 days...Mission Space, and RnR with her "Old" Daddy.

wow, this question makes me feel REALLY old, I didn't realize late 40's needed to worry WHAT they rode...I'm early 40's with young kids. My parents are 60's and ride everything, including the teacups and thunder mountain (although that can hurt a 30 year old's back if you have back problems). I'd say late 40's can ride anything they want, unless they don't like being dizzy(I've never liked the teacups) or jerky rides (thundermountain) or dark/heights (space mountain). Their not over 65, so age-wise they should be able to ride anything they want.

Are you sure that you will be tall enough to ride the rides? :rotfl:

I am 54, soon to be 55, and my husband is 51. He does everything. I get motion sick, so I avoid those rides. We took my mother (84 at the time) on Test Track. His parents have gone on everything he went on.

I'm 49 & I love them all. :cool1:
Why do people think I'm old? :rotfl2:
I love going fast being tossed side to side
& upside down.
Oh I forgot getting soak & wet.
Take them along & have fun. :goodvibes
Believe me if they want to ride or don't they will let you know.
How about get them Birnbaum's Walt Disney World Guide before you go.
This way all will have a heads up what to expect.

DH is 50 and likes thrill rides like Space Mountain. I'm 48 and like low-thrill, high-theme rides like Pirates of the Caribbean.

So, totally depends on your parents and their preferences. In the great scheme of things, it is rather unlikely that your parents, at their relatively youthful ages, have any medical impairments that would keep them off certain rides. However, only they can decide what they LIKE.

I'm not sure what the question is??? Are you thinking there's rides they can't do because they're "old"??? HMMMMMM!!! I'm 50 and DH is 51, and I really never thought of that!!! If my 80 y/o MIL can ride TOT, Test Track and Splash Mountain and my 51 y/o husband can do Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point, I guess I would say that you're parents could do whatever they wanted.

I am an ancient 47 and I go on almost everything. My husband does go on everything and moves through the parks as fast if not faster than our kids who are 14 and 21!! :flower:

Hmmm...I'm 47, and I'll be checking myself out of the "home" to take my family to WDW in 17 days.

Actually, I'll try to answer your question seriously since I had those thoughts myself a few years ago. A mom goes through so many years of not riding thrill rides...first you're pregnant, then you're with a baby, then you're pregnant again, then you're with a baby and a toddler, etc. I wondered if I would be willing to ride thrill rides once my own kids were old enough to ride them.

We went to Disneyland 2 years ago and I told myself that I would ride everything, and I did. California Screamin' freaked me out at first - I didn't think I would like being upside down. I closed my eyes the first few times, but ended up loving it.

As for rides we don't like:
DH ("only" 46) won't ride the teacups, but he's never liked those types of spinning rides.
I am very headache prone, so I try to avoid rides that bump my head around a lot. (The worst ride in the world for me is the log flume at Sea World in San Antonio...the ride UP to the big drop is so bumpy that I have a headache for the rest of the day.)

Have a geat time and don't worry about your parents' advanced years. I know that when I was a kid, my mother (who grew up in the depression and never had a "childhood") would outlast us all at the Disney parks.

Next year my family and I are going to Disney World and my parents will be 47. What kinds of rides should I take them on? :confused3
 I am confused, I didn't think at 47 you were to old for anything. I am 48 and do everything my DD(16) does at WDW. My DH 50 and our best friends are 47 and 50 we all do everything.

47 isn't old!

I think you have good intentions, but maybe you should let your parents make their own decisions. ;)
