What is the best magic you've ever received....

We checked into the YC CL on my daughter's 8th birthday. That evening, we were having dessert in the lounge and quietly sang her Happy Birthday. One of the lounge CMs came in, crouched down next to my kids and asked if they'd like to do a very special treasure hunt. He led them all around the lounge area, where the CMs had hidden a stuffed animal for each of my kids. I thought it was so sweet that not only did they give DD a birthday surprise, but they also included her two younger sibs. :flower3:

This made me cry :)

The above post reminded me of a Dinoland pixie dust that we got at one of the carnival games when the girls were maybe 6 and 8 years old.. at this point though, we were just learning my younger daughter wins all carnival games. It didn't matter where or what the carnival game was, she always wins things. Now she's the kid that leaves any given carnival and has like 15 things. My older daughter... not so much. We walked into Dinoland, and my older daughter played a game first. So after my older daughter lost the game, my younger daughter told her she would try for her, and if she won the game and toy, she would give it to her.... they were trying for this big 4 foot lizard thing... so of course when she won it on a dollar, she kept her word and gave it to her sister. The attendant was so taken by my then 6 year old daughter for sharing and willingly giving away the enormous toy, he gave her one too... :)

That carnival area is great. I had the mopey-eyed "Please win me something Daddy" daughter with me and was shooting the basketballs. I kept shooting and missing, but the balls were bouncing BACK over the partition. The CM kept letting me shoot saying it wasn't really a miss until it stayed on his side of the glass.

Left with 3 stuffed bears after a few "extra" shots.

We were eating at T-Rex in DTD on my birthday. We didn't make any mention of it but i still had the pin on after being at the parks all day. When the time came to offer dessert, I was too full and didn't get anything. A few minutes later, a BUNCH of the wait staff came up singing happy birthday to me and put an empty plate down in front of me with a single candle in the middle. :rotfl: To me it was magical just because it was so funny! it's still a fun story to tell that makes my friends laugh.

We also ate at Tony's during my birthday trip. When we got to the table, it was decorated with Mickey confetti and I got a free cupcake at the end.

We went to AK and were placing our order for lunch at Pizzafari. The CM said, "Oh! You're the special birthday guest we've been expecting! We have your private dining room ready for you!" Obviously, we hadn't been planning on going there because it's just counter service, so we were very confused! Lo and behold, they took us to a completely empty room with a private dining table and served us our counter service meals with a wait staff! :goodvibes They were so kind and sang happy birthday to me and gave me a free cupcake(again) at the end. That was probably the most exciting thing!

Honestly, I would suggest making an ADR or two for your birthday. I'm not saying it will always happen, but I most commonly received "special stuff" when we were eating somewhere. I also think you're very likely to receive something special if you don't walk into any situation expecting anything, and if you are always kind and courteous. Two of the times I mentioned above occured after I had struck up a friendly conversation with whatever CM's were involved. Other than that, I thought it was special enough to hear "Happy birthday!" wherever I went and get special notes from Characters when I got their autographs. And to be called "Princess" even though I'm a grown woman. ;)
