We will have two children ages 5 and 7. We want to be close to the bus stops, food, and pools/play areas.

A view would be nice but I don't want to pay extra for a view as we will be in the parks most of the time.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

We stayed in Building 27 of AB, which is right in between the main pool and the food court. The first bus stop was right out back, and best of all, no parking lot views from this building. Don't waste your money on a water view as it's not worth it at this resort.

I see the previous poster has the same suggestion as me. Building 27 was a great location. It is centrally located so you won't get a bad view and won't see any parking lots or anything like that. You can take a right on the main path to go to the main building and can go left for a quick trip to the main pool. I loved this building. We asked for and received a corner room. I liked this because it has 2 windows.

I posted a picture of Building 27 in this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=925588 . It shows the outside of our room and other pictures show the area around our room.

How long did it take to get from building 14 and building 27 from the bus stop? I'd rather stay in AB, but I'm nervous that it could be a long walk after a tiring day! Any problems with busses?

From buildings 14 and 15 in Alligator Bayou, it is not a long walk to the bus stop, Riverside Mill, or the pool.

The buses ran pretty regularly (we never waited more than 10-15 min. in Aug.) but sometimes we did have to stand--especially in the morning. The buses go to POFQ before they go to POR.

Would love to see your pics of Building 27, but could not get to them with your link!!

We were in bldg 14 in June. It was very close to the food court and bus stop...about a 2 min. walk. But, the closest pool was in back of us, about a 4 minute walk and it was a quiet pool. The main pool, on Ole Man Island is a bit of a walk...about 6 minutes. We stayed in Magnolia Terrace a few years ago and there was a bus stop behind our bldg, as well as a quiet pool right next to it. And Ole Man Island was just a quick walk across the bridge. I don't think there are any rooms that are close to the food court, a bus stop and the main pool. And I wouldn't pay for the water/pool view either. I did twice and both times it was not worth it.

Here is a great map you can check out. POR Riverside Map
Definitely building 14 would be the closest to everything, but we were in 28 and it honestly wasn't bad. We used the West Depot and it wasn't too far. There are little short cuts you can take too. I enjoyed the stroll to the main building and pool. Besides with all the free food we had been consuming, a little extra excersize was not a bad thing. ;)

I was able to copy and paste the paths you provided and see your pictures.

Thanks

Can someone please tell the first bus stop is located. I've used the link above and the map posted on Deb's site. I just can't find the first bus stop. :rotfl2:

I know it's near building 14, but I don't see it marked on the maps. :confused3

Please help

They are listed as the Mason Platform and the Dixie Platform on the map link that I posted above. They were located outside of the main building on the circle. I think those would be the ones you are asking about. I think they were the first stops. We usually used the West Depot and that was a great stop too. The bus was usually pretty crowded by the time it got to the North and East Depots.

We've stayed in Bldg 14 and 15 in the AB Section. Excellent locations. Be sure to ask for a first floor room in AB as there are only stairs which seem like tons more work in the evenings. Depending on how fast you walk the bus stop and main building are about 4-5 minute walk. The pool is another minute or two.

Thanks so much.

Is there a way to guarantee that you're in a certain area?
I know you can pay an extra $10.00 a night at PC in order to be in the 60s building.

I'm wondering if there's a way to know for sure we'll end up in building 14,15, or 18. :confused3
