What is the best flip flop/sandal for walking?

Fit Flops!
The super thick sole absorbs so much of the shock - it feels like I'm walking on air.:goodvibes

I'm a fan of fitflops too....they don't really "tone" - but they fit to your feet - I'm comfortable for hours and miles!

I have been happy with my "teva" style Crocs. They have lasted a long time and are very comfortable in the parks, even when they get wet.

I love my fit flops, Birkenstocks, and Tevas. For me one of the huge keys is changing shoes often. I start the day in one pair and change when we go back to the hotel for an afternoon break. That way no part of my feet get too much wear and tear!

I love my Fit flops too, and have worn them many times to the parks. I wear them and my Vibrams, an odd combination, but it works for me. I alternate between them all the time at home, and tend to do alot of walking in general.

I love my Reef Cushion flip flops! they were $34 at Gander Mountain. Just a word to the wise, I always wear a 9 or 9.5 shoe and I had to buy 8's, so they run big.. the Cushions did, but not the regular style Reef's.. :confused3

I wear my Reefs. In fact, my feet end up hurting worse when I wear my sneakers into the park. My DD's friend had Chaco's and didn't complain about her feet hurting once. My other DD wears her croc flip flops the whole time, While MIL wears her regular crocs.

Nike has a pair of flip flops with a gel cushion foot bed. They are heavenly!

I did buy these - but if they get wet - We go in late June , wet & rainy season, they take a day to dry or you walk around squishing water under your feet.
Not sure if I should bring them with us to WDW this summer. :confused3

Oh, thanks for the tip. I never thought of that. I'll probably plan on wearing tennis shoes to the parks then and using the flip flops at night.

funny story:

My DS had these flip flops from Nike. He had taken a shower at the campground with them on. A few days later, in EPCOT, it started raining. and as he walked, foam and bubbles started to come from his shoes. It was so funny!

I HATED flip flops--that piece that goes between your toes always was uncomfortable. Until I tried the Teva Mush, as recommended on these boards! I tried them on and :lovestruc I enjoy wearing them at the parks, and actually bought a new pair for this trip and have been wearing them around the house to break them in :rotfl: I even ran with a pair from one side of an airport to the other to catch a flight. Don't recommend that ;) but didn't have a problem keeping up with the rest of the fam.

Have you tried chacos? They're my go to "easy" shoes... and I'm a shoe girl :)

They might be expensive, but they last forever. They'll even resole them for you, so they're essentially lifetime shoes.

They're sort of like Tevas, except Chacos go around your big toe as well. This makes them stay on your feet really well - I have played frisbee in them, running around, they're great. Super comfy. I also have high arches, and they offer a lot more support than do most flip flops. Look at the zongs or Z1/Z2 models, as they have the big toe wrap feature. You can also find them on sale at camp stores, etc.

This way you won't have to remove your shoes (as if you were wearing flip flops) on rides, which is nice. They can get wet and dry off quickly.

Good luck!
I second the Chacos- I bought my first pair 1 week before a 23 day trip to Italy. I wore them everyday and my feet NEVER HURT! They are amazing. I have two pair and the make fall and winter styles now too for wearing with socks.

What kind do you guys wear? I have a pair of Chaco Flip EcoTread and also a pair of Etesia EcoTread and both give me blisters under my big toe and on the ball of the foot.

OluKai Ohana and Cobian braided leather Bounce seem to work best for me for some reason. Nothing else even comes close, although I do like the Sketcher Toneups, Orthoheel Tides and Waves, Fit Flops, and Montrail Molokini. If I can find them I also like the Volatile Keralee (but don't care for any of the other Volatile flip flops, even though some look alot like the sole on the Keralee---they just fit tighter in the straps and the soles are not as comfortable for some reason). Volatile Keralees I can wear all day long though. I also recently bought some Flojo Exena's that I'm loving right now. They have a thick, soft, bumpy sole on them, that just cushion your feet.

Fit flops, I completely agree, I got a pair last year, & was obsessed with them, I hate having to think about putting my foot in a regular flip flop. We're going in July and I know it rains so I'm not too fond of wet sneakers & socks @ least these give you, comfort, support & will dry quickly once it stops raining.:woohoo:
