What do we need these books for at all, what with AllEars, MousePlanet and many other great resources, as well as these discussion forums, giving us above and beyond the information we might need. What can the books provide that we can't find for free (and searchable) online?
I love the net for getting info, but my wife would much rather read a book than sit at the computer for any long period of time. We bought the Unofficial Guide before out 2002 trip and found it very helpful. Later I found more info from the sites you mention.
For someone who is 1) not computer savvy or 2) wants to be able to read at their own pace whenever and wherever they want the books can be a great help. My mother is going to WDW this fall and is not much of a computer user, I had told her about the sites, but she asked me for some books that she could take to work and read on her breaks. Different strokes for diferent folks.
