We are flying in with our 5 year old. Renting a car at the airport. We'll need a car seat and a stroller. So many companies--I'm overwhelmed. Want quality, clean products. Would love to have car seat available at car rental counter.

Personally, I would bring your own car seat. There is no way to know the accident history of a rented car seat, and that alone would make me too uncomfortable to rent one. As for strollers, I've rented from kingdom strollers and apple strollers and have had good experiences with both of them.

Best, easiest solution for a 5 yr old: Bubble Bum Booster (highly rated for safety & raved about in the car seat community. http://www.bubblebum.co/us/
Hope this helps!

If the child is not in a booster now, you can practice sitting safely with the bubble bum before the trip.

We also did not want to trust a rented car seat for a few reasons (no information about accident history is one, quality generally or possibility of an outdated or less safe model than we have is another, plus we are comfortable installing the one we have). Our older son was 5 on our last trip. We had purchased a travel cover for his car seat and brought it. We checked it on the plane.

For stroller rental, we needed a double and had a great experience with Kingdom Strollers for a 15 day rental. We got a great rate compared to other companies, when we had questions before and after the trip, they were highly responsive, they were able to drop the stroller at a universal hotel and pick it up at Disney and were generally pleasant to work with. We did not have to be present for pick up or drop off. They even threw in a cooler bag (which we used constantly) and rain cover (also used), and we purchased insurance. The stroller was a city mini double - we have a city mini at home and like the way they handle. I believe they also carry bob strollers. It was in great condition. We would definitely use them again and I can recommend them without reservation.

Good luck!

We took our own car seat as my son used it on the plane but we rented a stroller through Apple stroller and had a great experience! It was there when we arrive cleaned and wrapped.

Harmony Juvenile makes a high back booster that folds into a cube. It's very compact and is around $50 I think. It would fit in the overhead bin on the plane. Or you could bring something like the Graco Turbo Booster where the back comes off and can be used as a backless booster. You can carry the bottom portion on the plane and pack the back portion in a suitcase.

this. I actually keep an extra in my car in case I end up picking up a friends kid from school etc

I can't speak to the carseat as we always use Magical Express and don't need one. As for a stroller, I have used Magic Strollers three times and just reserved them again for our trip in a little over three weeks. They have the city mini strollers, they arrive looking like new, they drop them at the resort and pick them up as well. Great price and way better than lugging my stroller. Good luck!

We used Magic Strollers on our trip two years ago and had a good experience with them. I'd use them again. I agree with others that bringing your own car seat or booster seat is the best bet.

We just returned from our trip. We used Apple. It went very smoothly. They launder them before each use and it was only $5/day.

Thank you for the info! She is too small for a booster. But we have decided to bring our own car seat. Too many variables to worry about: accident history, cleanliness, risk of not having one available, etc. So thanks for the insight. I have noted the boosters recommended here for the future--great tips. Thanks. Off to book a stroller! Thanks for the recommendations!
