Disney on a Dime:
Money-Saving Secrets for Your Walt Disney World Vacation

by, Chris Carlson
in paperback with an ISBN # 13: 9781887140577
published in 2005
for about $9 with shippung and handling.:goodvibes

:confused3Do you think the information would still be valid to use for a WDW vacation in 2011 ? :confused3

Are there other books I should buy to plan a budget savy vacation in WDW ?

Thanks !

Personally I would not buy a book.

There is plenty of information on the internet for free. This website is a good resource, the mousesavers . com website is awesome, and I am also a fan of allears . net (mostly for food menu planning).

If you want to read some books about Disney--see what your library has to offer. I know that my local library has 10 different Disney books and many of them are current year or one year past--they sell the older travel books for 25 or 50 cents.

The book I have found the most useful is Birnbaums Guide to Walt Disney World. Mine is a 2009 book but it is still up-to-date. And of course there are lots of websites that are good for budgeting...WDWinfo and mousesavers.

IMO, I would save the $$ and use the DISboards for money saving advice!

Want to save on meals? Take advantage of the Free Dining offers. Save on hotels? Either stay off site, or consider the Hilton, Swan or Dolphin if EMH are important to you.

Also, another favorite site for savings is Mousesavers.com (I noticed other people posted this as well, great minds think alike).

If you really want to look at the book, see if your local library has it. I use my local library to check out guide books for family vacations. If I like it, then I buy it (with a coupon of course!) :thumbsup2

Most money saving ideas are timeless (such as eating breakfast in the room, having your big meal at lunch, using the fridge swap, etc.)

I agree - the best book isn't a book at all, its the DISboards. I have learned nearly everything I need to know about WDW on a budget from here, allearsnet.com, mousesavers and by reading trip reports on mouseplanet. Also check out couponing to disney.

I agree that for the most part, you'll get your best budget info online. We mostly used the DISboards, All Ears, & Mousesavers. We DID get one book to have to carry around with us when we weren't around a computer (mostly to plan out the rides/attractions we wanted to see within the parks) -- we got the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. It helped out a pretty good bit when we couldn't use the computer ... but otherwise, the boards were the best help.

I also recommend buying the Unofficial Guide, using the library for other books, and using the DISboards! :thumbsup2 Most "budget" books are going to tell you to stay offsite, bring sandwiches to the parks, drink water, and don't buy anything. The Unofficial Guide will give you valuable information to make your trip a great one.

I agree- Online here or the other sites posted will give you TONS of great info!! :goodvibes
And look for books from your library, that's what I've done in the past!!

If you buy only one book, I would get the PassPorter guide...if you buy two books, get the Unofficial guide. Best combination ever!

I borrowed "Disney on a Dime" from the library. Good information, but not updated in a long time... not worth purchasing but a good free read.

Borrow from the library rather than purchasing any book.

Ask questions and read EVERYTHING here - best way to get info!!!
