I am looking at buying a restaurant.com certificate but I am unsure which one I should get. There will be six of us, DS's 10 & 4, plus DD15, DD's 15yo friend and DH plus myself, for a total of six people. Will we spend $100 on food there? Typically we enjoy an appetizer, entrées, and usually a dessert or two to share. Also, I think the answer is no, but is alcohol included in minimum purchase?

I apologize that I can't answer your question --- but if you are able to go on a Sunday, then I'd highly recommend the Gospel Brunch, which is a flat amount per person. It includes your meal and I believe non-alcoholic drinks (I know it includes soda). You can also purchase drinks at the bar (e.g. bloody mary, etc).

Neither my husband nor I are huge Gospel fans....and we were a bit leery, but we had a great time! Plenty of food choices, including desserts, were available. The music and singing was really good and there were a lot of families there.

Hope somebody else can post some additional meal info for you.

Thank you! I have heard lots of wonderful things about the Gospel Brunch. In fact, DD15 went to one on a school trip to New Orleans and enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, for the this particular trip we won't be in Orlando over the weekend... But I will keep it in mind for future trips! Thank you so much!

I don't believe the Restaurant.com certificate is good for the gospel brunch.
I think the majority of entrees are 22 to 25 dollars. If you want appetizers and desserts too you are going to spend a lot more than $100. I don't know if they have a children's menu.

You can't use the cert. for the gospel brunch, I'm researching the same thing, only for the Anaheim location, the rest.com site specifically said it was not good for the gospel brunch. :)

That's right! Thanks.
Yeah, the HOB website is not too helpful! I still don't know if they have a children's menu. LOL

Ah - totally forgot to check there! Thanks! I forget that they have all the DTD menus too. :goodvibes

Looks like we'll easily spend over $100! :scared1:
Luckily the restaurant.com certificate can help offset some of that cost.

Thanks again!

For a $50 GC restaurant.com's website says:

Minimum purchase of $100. 18% Gratuity added prior to discount. Excludes: Holidays/Special Events. Cannot be used for Gospel Brunch.

So it can be used toward alcohol, it cannot be used towards the Gospel Brunch, on a Holiday or during a Special Event.

Thank you! In that case we certainly won't have a problem meeting the minimum purchase requirement! ;)

...of course you know that the certificates themselves are often up to 80% off

They are right now actually, the code is Easter. :)

Yep, I got 3 $50 certs (all different restaurants) for only $14! Actually, only $8 OOP, thanks to Pinecone. :goodvibes

They do have a kids menu as well. We ordered off it when we ate there last (with our restaurant.com certificate as well!)

That is great news! I figured as much, but as I mentioned above the HOB website doesn't offer a lot of detail regarding their menu. Thank you!

This is from my dining review on the Restaurants board. DH and I went for dinner and used the restaurant.com certificate.

Day 6 Dinner: House of Blues

Our original plan for this evening was to watch Illuminations and then eat at Yachtsman Steakhouse. However, the super-heavy rain was putting a damper on that. We wanted to go back to the viewing location we had yesterday for Illuminations (in the front of World Showcase) but stand in a better location so the view wasn't blocked. But, with the rain, and the fact that we had seen Illuminations 2 times already that trip (although both were severely blocked views), and it being our last night and we were tired, we decided to just head back to the resort.

So we headed back to the resort around 8 pm. We cleaned up/dried off the best we could. The rain had slowed down a little. We then hopped a bus to Downtown Disney to do our last minute shopping and then eat at House of Blues.

We ended up at HOB around 10 pm. They were just starting their half-price apps. We didn't get any, but that seemed to be a good deal. I got a coke ($3.25) and DH got a diet coke ($3.25). DH then ordered the soup special which was a spicy African soup ($3).

He thought it was pretty good! It was sort of like a vegetable soup with spice!

For our entrees DH chose the Smokehouse Burger ($16) and I had the BBQ Beef Sandwich ($14).

I think DH's meal came with sweet potatoe fries. Mine came with regular fries that were really tasty. They were those thin kind of fries that were nice and crispy. My BBQ Beef was really good and I think I ate the whole thing - which is unusual for me because I almost never can finish anything.

DH has never seen a key lime pie he doesn't like, so when he saw that on the menu, he had to get dessert ($6).

While we were eating, a band started playing there in the restaurant and it started to get crowded. The band was good, but it made it impossible to have any kind of conversation.

DH commented on how much he liked HOB. I was surprised since he only got a burger - I mean how impressive can that be?? But he liked the atmosphere and the menu. So he wants to go back some day.

I did have a restaurant.com gift certificate for this restaurant. It was taken with no problems at all.

Coke $3.25
Diet Coke $3.25
Spicy African Soup $3
Smokehouse Burger $16
BBQ Beef Sandwich $14
Key Lime Pie $6
-$25 Restaurant.com gift certificate
Subtotal $20.50
Tax $2.99
Total $23.49

I just remember non-alcohilic drinks were expensive! My DD got an apple juice and it was insanely expensive and not included with the kids meal.

Wow! Fantastic!
Thank you for sharing!

We just ate there on April 8 and had the $25 certificate off $35 and we still spent $30, but I added to the tip, because we had exceptional service. This was for 2 adults. The food was outstanding, or at least mine was, except for the salad, it wasn't very good.

Thanks for the review - we are getting excited! I don't think we'll have any problems spending over $100 for six people.

Does anyone know what types of items are on the kids' menu?

Definitely not. BTW, I had the Rosemary Chicken, it was mouthwatering, I wish I could make it that way at home.

If you get there before 5, appitizers are 1/2 price and can be included.
We had a 5pm reservation and arrived about 4:30, the place was almost empty and they were able to seat us right away and we had the option of getting 1/2 appetizers, but DH didn't like the options.

I think I glanced at the kids menu, but don't remember what was on it, since we don't have children.
