Hi, we are going for the first time this summer for the Fantasmic Package. What is it like there? TIA!!!:)

Quintessential cheesy Italian-American. All that's missing are the chianti bottle candlestick holders and red gingham tablecloths. It's kind of fun. There's a lot to look at in there.

Its nice, pretty dark but they have little white Xmas hanging up.

It sorta reminds me of a Carrabbas because they do have an open style kitchen, we have always sat near it and can see the guys cooking but from parts of the restaurant you will not be able to see them

Make sure you avoid the calamari...its pretty ick

Eleven years ago I went to Mama Melrose's by accident -- back before the ADR days when you didn't have to figure out where and when you eat months in advance -- And I picked the clam diablo pasta (something like that). It was THE BEST THING I ever had! So good! My oldest was a baby then.

Last summer I went there again. This time with 3 boys 11, 8 and 4. I ordered the clam diablo for everybody except the 11 year old, who ordered a sausage pasta. He ended up ignoring his own order and sharing clam diablo with me. All my boys loved it! Still so good!

A while ago I checked Melrose's menu. Now they got rid of the clam diablo and replaced it with clam in white sauce! After 10 years, the one food I loved in Disney World and they got rid of it! But it was SO GOOD!

I have to vent about it. Sorry. :headache:

Anyway, the restaurant is average. Dark with dark stained wood design. Quite large inside; doesn't look so much from the outside. Not particularly fancy except for the price, which is quite high, but that's true with all Disney. And remember: Disney STRONGLY encourages you to pay 20% tip. They print it right on the receipt how much tip you need to cough up. Well, I paid it.

I got the DDP last time. It was a disaster with my kids. Imagine 3 boys whining, "WE DON'T WANT TO EAT IN RESTAURANTS! WE WANT TO GO ON A RIDE!" And except for the clam diablo, I don't remember a single thing my kids liked in the restaurants for the 9 nights we spent there. Oh, actually, they did like the soup at the Mexican place in Epcot. But that's it.

And yet, you might like the food, you never know. It's a matter of personal taste.

Anyway, it's Disney. Don't expect too much and you'll have a great time! With Disney World, you have to take the good with the bad. And the good is so good that the bad is really nothing.

I love Disney World!

We've been to WDW 8 times in the past 8 years and for whatever reason only tried MM's for the first time on our most recent trip.

We were very pleasantly surprised.

We found it very relaxing inside -- we appreciated the darkness of the room (that FL sun just gets draining after a while!), the tables were spaced reasonably apart, we found lots of interesting things to look at on the walls, and at least when we were there the noise level was quite low. We all truly enjoyed our meals -- didn't find the pricing out of line, great service, etc.

We will definitely go again!

It has always been a favorite of my kids and they still want to go there cause they like spaghetti. I personally think the food choices there were MUCH better 5 years ago (or so) - much more variety as a PP mentioned. Now it is a somewhat generic menu. I've never had a bad experience and we eat there almost every trip. It isn't "wow" but of the regular TS restaurants at DHS - I like it the best for dinner/relaxing (never been to Brown Derby but it is more $$$).
