What is the AP discount?

I feel dumb for asking this question, but what is the AP discount? We are thinking about buying annual passes but I didn't realize that you got a discount on the room rates to? Is it a huge saving? And on another post I read that they are waiting for the rates to come out... again what is everyone talking about... HELP... I am so confused.

WDW sometimes offers room discounts to it's APs. This is not guaranteed, and can be frustrating waiting for the discounts to come out. BUT, if they do come out, they are usually 30-45%!!!! Great huh? Now you know why everyone anxiously awaits the release of AP rate codes!!

No question here is dumb, IMO!!

The AP is the annual pass to get into the parks. You do not have to have one to book a room but you have to purchase it before you check into your motel. Sometimes they give great discounts on the room
