What is so great about Le Cellier?

We all enjoyed it 2 weeks ago. If you like steak it is one of the best bargains on the dining plan. I had the mushroom filet, DH had some other steak. I liked the filet but not the risotto. We had appetizers which we probably would normally have skipped (if not on the dining plan) but I'm glad we didn't!! I'm not one to gush, but in the spirit of this thread, the tomato stack was to die for! We also liked the cheese soup.

The chocolate moose kids desert is really cute.

We waited 20 minutes for our table (with an ADR) and our server was great.

I think if we had paid out of pocket we might have felt differently. Everything is a little pricey, and similar to what we could get at home for the same $$.

DH and I just tried Le Cellier last weekend and we LOVED it! The atmosphere is so relaxing and the food was outstanding. We went for lunch. We, of course, started with the cheese soup, which we had sampled at the Food & Wine Fest last year. DH had the NY Strip - which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the Petite Filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes - OH MY! I wanted to lick the plate it was so good. We didn't have room for dessert but we did both savor a glass of icewine. I highly recommend the icewine. It's a little pricey, but very yummy!

We haven't tried Biergarten but we're not big fans of German food, so I can't comment. Sorry!

The last time I ate there, a year ago, they had changed the menu and the food I had was not good. I had ordered chicken and it was so spicey I could not eat it and it did not say anything about being spicey on the description. I did not have a good experience, the others however in my party enjoyed their steaks.

I have not gone back. There are far too many excellent restaurants for me to go to.

Well, i think I'm going to end up switching around my adr's. I think Le Cellier is in! We can likely use only 2 TS credits there for the 3 of us since it sounds like it will be a tonne of food with app, main and des. Ds and Dh both love salmon and I can see me getting steak and sharing that with ds too. Two of his favs! I can't wait to try this cheese soup and bread.

My BF and I have booked into Le Cellier for lunch in September, and I can't wait! I've never tasted cheese soup before, but I think I will at Le Cellier!

Also the desserts look amazing in photos...

I'm not a fan of red meat though. Has anyone tried the chicken salad, or the BBQ Chicken Sandwich? I've tried to look, but I can't see any photos of them on the food photo thread?!

Oh and one more question... Can you get the Dessert Selection plate on the dining plan? Or do you have to pay extra?

Question... we have reservations Le Cellier on the night we arrive June 2nd. My daughter (5) who is very picky may not eat that night as I am expecting she will be a bit crabby from travel. Can she share off our plates or being on the dining plan this is not allowed?

This was our second favorite restaurant on our trip last year. I love the dark atmosphere and the closeness of the restaurant. DH and I both had the filet and lobster tail ( on the free dining plan) and the meals were perfect. The cheese soup was just okay. DD got the shrimp cocktail and it was better than the soup. I loved the bread sticks and their presentation.

The very best thing about this restaurant was the cobbler for dessert. The best I have ever had... My mouth is drooling thinking about it right now. I cant wait for this Sept to roll around. Yummy..


I cant help on the other two. I cant stand German food and we have only done the Norway for breakfast which wasnt too good but 5 princess's made it worthwhile for DD.

We ate at LC for the first time in March...it was fabulous! We had skipped it the previous trip, thinking that since we're from Canada, why would we want to eat an expensive "Canadian" restaurant? We all enjoyed our meals immensely...DH had steak, I had a chicken dish (that I don't see on the AllEars menu), DD had steak too, I think. Tested the cheese soup and breadsticks, of course. They were yummy!

As for the atmosphere, well, it's not that Canadian (what would that entail, anyway?). The servers and staff are all from Canada....the waitress at our table used to live less than 20 miles away from us. Canada's a big country, so that's a big coincidence! The spiel you get about the breadsticks is corny, but that's the Disneyfied version of Canada, I guess. Of course there's all the usual stereotypes, but every pavilion has them.

Make sure you have a steak--it's Alberta beef! And the cheese soup is great! The soup would have a slightly smoky flavour, from the bacon!

Another fan, but "to die for" is only reserved for places like Commander's Palace in New Orleans ... but that's just me.

Having said that - at last year's Candlelight Processional, we all had a really fine meal by whatever criteria you want to use. I did the knockout cheese soup/mushroom filet/creme brulee combo, and I certainly can't fault any part of the meal. My DD fancies herself a creme brulee conisseur (so where do you get such expertise, child?), and declared it "the best she'd ever had." She had mussels, too - that one also has a shellfish fetish - and said they were tender, properly seasoned, and a real treat.

I *think* it's our favorite of the WS restaurants, although we were pleasantly surprised at lunch at Alfredo's. That one moved up a couple of notches on our hit parade - the last time we ate there, it had been just so-so.

Another vote for Le Cellier. My DW and I agree that they should offer the soup and breadsticks for sale at a kiosk outside the restaurant. They could use the Beaver tails booth unless they decide to bring back the BT's, too. Dinner and dessert in one quick stop.....priceless!

I'm not a big fan of either of the two restaurants you have on your list. Especially Akershus, but if you want the princesses that's the key.

Le Cellier has always been at the top of most lists for years. It does have very good food in general and has pretty much for the last several years enjoyed an excellent reputation. Probably better than many places. At Epcot, we have not tried Mexico, Morocco or Japan and of the rest that we've tried, I think Le Cellier and Chefs de France have the best food, but they are also more expensive. My second group would be Rose and Crown and Alfredos. DH likes Biergarten, I do not, being from Wisconsin and eating that type of food all the time, mine is ALOT more delicious. I would not eat again at Akershus or China, unless I wanted to see the princesses, although I ate at China years ago and I've heard it's improved. Well, that's my World Showcase opinions.

One piece of advice. Don't "expect" anything that's raved about to be "awesome", you will definitely be setting yourself up for disappointment. Has happened to me many times. Make your reservations based on whatever you think sounds good to you and you'd like to try, then just expect the basic. That way you won't be overly disappointed and hopefully pleasantly surprised. Most of our favorites are the least talked about "hidden gems". I have tried Jiko, Boma, Brown Derby, Ohanas, to name a few and have been very disappointed. But I AM glad we tried them, so make your choices and "go easy" on the results. Different strokes for different folks, and that's why Disney is so wonderful, they offer bunches, and you will "not" like everything others "rave" about.

It is extremely yummy. We just did it last month after reading so much about it on here. We weren't disappointed. We had the steak, salad, cheese soup and dessert trio, and all of it was really good. The creme brulee is excellent! It's a small, quiet, peaceful restaurant, plus they have excellent food. It's worth a trip....definitely would be better than Akershus food wise.

We loved everything!! The pretzel breadsticks were GREAT. The steaks were very tender and everything was cooked perfect for us. The cobbler was my favorite!

Sharing is allowed. My DD12 and I shared many meals, including at LC, last October during free dining. No problems. Some places divided it in the kitchen. At LC, they just brought an extra plate.

We ate at LeCellier in March and I was sooo looking forward to it. Then I was soooo disappointed....with everything from the service to the food. My DD's steak was so overcooked when she tried to cut it it went flying off of her plate like a hockey puck! My steak was horrible as well. The cheese soup was good though.

Maybe we just hit it on an off night.

I've always enjoyed LeCellier. I had dinner there last weekend, I had the filet, it was very good. There were 4 of us with the dining plan, our bill was $190 including tax and tip. So we more than covered the dining plan for that day with just that meal.
