What is so good about World Showcase in Epcot?

Sit at the Fountain Bakery and watch the Fountain show after the rides and then go to WS. We spent the greater part of 3 days last year at WS. Have a Harp at GB at a table by the lake, sample a french pastry, try a taste of French or German wine. (we LOVED the Christmas wine from Germany) Buy a toy soldier from GB or a fan in China. I could go on and on. It really is magic.

Like everyone else here we love world showcase but I do agree if you are only interested in thrill rides then it probably isn't for you. We love the restaurants and never miss the movies at China, France and Canada.

World Showcase is one of my favorite parts of Disney. It's definitely my favorite part of Epcot, and probably right up there after Magic Kingdom. It's just special. . . full of ambiance and special details and wonderful food and shopping. I can easily spend a day there and usually plan for a whole day in WS and a whole day in FW.

During my first few trips to Epcot I was in commando mode (I still have to fight that urge a little) and so WS wasn't AS fun for me.....although I still really liked it alot. I have since slowed down a LITTLE at Epcot so I appreciate WS even more. I really do want to experience the whole thing. Our plan for this upcoming trip is to get a drink (like a margarita) in Mexico and enjoy the "road side" entertainment and shops while we drink it (and then of course ride El Rio del Tiempo). Once the drink is done, we will go to the next country, Norway, and repeat. Essentially, we are going to use the drinks to slow us down a bit and really take in the detail of each country. As we work our way around the lagoon, we may have to slow the drinking down a bit........but all of those 360 movies and shows should do that!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait. Oh, and I ditto the whole Illuminations thing. I love it!

I was planning on going in May '07.

No kids. Just me and my girlfriend.

So it sounds like Epcot will take more than a day to see everything huh. How is the dining at WS? Is it really expensive? Hmmm, well between the Future world place and World showcase at Epcot, which one is worth more of our time? :confused3 :wave2:

Epcot is a two day park to see everything yes. It's because the walking distances are so long. They're the longest of the 4 parks. But you might not want to do a few things that are kid oriented. And again if you don't want to browse and shop all that much, it will be quicker still. But take a look at your show guiede so you can catch some of the street shows. Dining can be fairly innexpensive to very expensive depending on where you eat and whether it's a counter, sit down, lunch, or dinner. We split the park in two. We did one side one day and the other side the other except we did Soarin both days. Don't do too much back and forth deep into WS and then back into FW. It's a long haul. We did what we needed to in FW, then walked to the back of WS, without doing anything, and made our way back up from there. doing the stuff in WS on the way. It seemed to work out well.

WS is my family's favorite part of Disney World. It's not a place to be thrilled in the typical big ride theme park kinda way... but rather a place to explore, be entertained, take in the details, try new things. Even browsing the shops, if you can resist buying, is a blast! Japan is our favorite. Make sure you catch Off Kilter perform in Canada! The restaurants are a big part of the experience. Check out the Dis restaurant boards and the menus here http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm#epc

When it is just my wife and I, we typically split our trip between Animal Kingdom and the World Showcase, with only token visits to the other parks.
