I tried to post a link to their website, but I can't because I don't have 10 registered posts. But they are a non profit organization for youth football, cheerleading and dance.
I imagine, as with everything, it all depends on the kids themselves AND their chaperones. When I worked at All Star Music, it was a horror. On days they weren't playing the games, they would, with a mob mentality, run around the hotel lobby and pool areas. We also had problems with them vandalizing the rooms. At the time, the lighting fixtures over the beds were lighted stars and when they were leaving, they were taking the light fixtures off the walls. Fortunately, a housekeeping cast member went in to clean a room, noticed it, and reported it while the kids were on their buses ready to leave and they were made to return what they stole.
We have our reservations for Dec 5-12, 2009, a family suite at the Allstar Music. I understand that this is Pop Warner week, which I didn't know when I made our reservations. Are the parks/restaurants over run also?
Wow, that is a tough decision. How nice is Shades of Green? I've heard that Pop Warner crowds are spread throughout the values. That would slove your problem if they were all at the All-Star sports. If I could go for free dining I think I would give it a try.
ETA: Oops...maybe they choose their rooms based on their bugets.
I did see on their website that the cheerleaders are required to purchase a package with Dinsey for the National competition that week.
We have Dec. 7-14 booked and I was not too happy when I realized it was Pop Warner week; I work in a school and know the types of kids they are. I have read reports where it's not that bad in the parks with them there and we are staying at AKL so there's no chance of running into them at our resort. Well, since booking this trip in January we added one night just to get on property sooner and I didn't want to spend much so it was a value resort for us and I let the kids choose. They both instantly wanted Sports and I figured it's probably arrival day for them and we can survive one day being around them.
Just my personal opinion but I wouldn not stay in a resort where the pop warner is booked. I did it once, it was really bad. I've been told "It's just the kids having fun." Yes that is true, but I still wouldn't stay at the same resort. I will say at that time we did not have a child and that made a difference too.
We'll be there December 9-17th, and I'm just really glad we're booked at the AKL.
We were there during the pop warner week last year and it was not any problem at all. We were staying at POR and although we did see alot of cheerleaders they seemed well behaved and supervised by an adult most of the time. I wouldnt hesitate to go back during this time.
