What is Pin Trading

I don't get it.

There are thousands of the pins for sale and the lanyards but who do the kids trade the pins with

Mainly cast members.

Disney has Cast member released pins, meaning you can only get them by trading with a CM. There are other normal people (hehe) with pins to trade but the two we traded with requested new pins/mystery pins in exchange.

Cast Members HAVE to trade pins when asked, whereas obviously guests don't. I have bought all of my 4 kids lanyards and I'm hoping they'll get into it - it's not something I've ever thought about before now!

Disney do sell pins but they are expensive. With pin trading you can buy pins from the outlet stores and trade with cast members. Last year we picked up about 30 pins for 99 cents each at Premium outlets. Also picked up about 50 pins in the New year sale at the Disney store near us, I think they were 49p each.
