What is on a FRESH CM Lanyard?

So do people only object to counterfit EuroDisney pins then, or ED pins in general? I have a couple in my collection that I traded for and they seem (with one exception) to be of the same quality as all my WDW ones. Are my good ED pins likely to just be good quality fakes?

In answer to the original question, I was at WDW in December and again in April and I saw only two Star Wars pins. My DGS9 loves Star Wars and I wanted to trade for some for him. I already had the one but I was able to get him a Mickey Jedi though. Very cute. My DGD3 loves Lion King. I traded for a Simba pin that was a Sedesma (which I didn't know until I already made the trade) but she loves Lion King so much, that it didn't matter that it wasn't an "official" Disney pin.

Since I'll be there during Star Wars Weekends, I wonder if The CM's will get more or less Star Wars pins?

It would be great if they had more and if they do, you'll be SO lucky!:)

I don't think it is fair to trade counterfeit pins or sedesma or other such "junk" pins w/ cast members but if the pins are from Eurodis. then who cares. I think that while you'll find ppl on this board that don't like them mny do, b/c they are different and you can't buy them at WDW. Remember a lot of ppl who trade do not surf every trading board online or try to find every rare pin available. Some people trade only on their Vacay and look for stuff they like- regardless of it's "tradeability" So if they are genuine Dis pins go for it.
Of course all this talk about the CM's "refreshing" their lanyards is crap. Disney is into pin trading for the $$$ they don't care if nobody wants the pins that are on the lanyards. There are a million employees w/ lanyards in the park you'll find something decent eventually, so where is the profitability in them taking a eurodis pin off and tossing it if someone may come along and buy a OE pin for 9$ and trade for it. People will trade for characters they like regardless of the edition size or origin of a pin.
Remember that as much as we love trading WDW loves money. There were pin traders before WDW started stocking their CM's w/ lanyards and there will be pin traders if they stop. But that's unlikely seeing as how it has lead to an extremely profitable situation for them.
Not to mention that if the CM isn't into pin trading then they might not even notice a crappy pin vs a good one. I've seen plenty of sedesma on CM lanyards. and some CM's don't even look at what you're giving them.

I would say a good rule of thumb is trade what you want to find on the Lanyards! We buy pins from the outlet near us and take those to trade.

We met a few people who were excited about our pins and several cast members commented on how nice the stuff we were trading was.

I say if you are looking for good pins - trade good pins. We found a lot of nice stuff on lanyards last weekend. There was also a lot of cuties and lots of Euro Disney.

I did notice some cast members seemed to be hiding or avoiding adult pin traders. This is different from other times we have been to WDW where they were more friendly.

A friend had commented that she noticed this at DL on a recent trip. I know this is because of the people that only take Lanyard pins and nothing else and sell on Ebay or trade hard for them at DTD.

I collect non-lanyard pins - so I occasionally trade for a lanyard from a CM and sometimes I trade one back to them! :wizard:

I agree- you should trade pins that you would want to trade for not necessarily characters or pins you like - OP said ..well if I'm trading them then I don't want them back...-OBVIOUSLY!
I meant to say that just because its Eurodis doesn't make it crap which was inferred by some traders who do not want eurodis pins. I have several from dis paris and Dis Seas Tokyo- That I love. Just like I like to get pins from DL- not just WDW. So I only meant that some people may look for eurodis pins or like them if they find them. Like PINGIRL, you collect non-lanyard pins of certain Alien Lifeforms who shall remain nameless *caugh*stitch*caugh* But my son only wants CL pins and doesn't care who's on them.
so it may not matter to people who collect certain characters what park the pin is from so long as it is a quality pin.
As for the quality of Euro dis pins I cannot say, the ones I have are older but just as nice as anything else I have.
BUT it should not be said that I am an advocate of trading crap- cause that is not true. I don't think it is fair to trade pins you know are junk b/c you are a trader and have done the research. some (most) families get into trading on a whim on vacation and have no idea that there may be counterfeit or lesser quality pins floating around CM lanyards. And I think that is taking advantage of the system. But I also think that what comes around goes around-so maybe all these "traders" who just want to trade the cheapest junk they can find will reap what they sow.

And about the cast lanyards I meant (I'm always having to explain myself on these forums, I should speak plainer I suppose) that it's silly to think that WDW would take our junk pins and toss them and refresh their lanyards w/ good pins that would be not be profitable and lets face it, that's why they started arming their CM's w/ lanyards. They put out some pins in the parks for memerobilia us DIS nuts started collecting them and when the word spread started trading them and a light bulb went off inside of some WDW exec's head that said if we encourage them to do this we will make a bajillion dollars! SO to assume that WDW would monitor the pin quality too closely is absurd. Yeah, they have rules, and I follow them- but let's not take for granted that the CM you are trading with has a clue about the pins on their lanyard (though many of them DO!) It's up to the trading community to uphold the rules and play fair, put out quality pins, not shark people etc... so that its fun for all of us.

Actually, the rule is that it has to be a Disney pin. If it says Disney on the back, the CM is supposed to trade. The Sedesma and ProPins both have Disney stamped on the back and are therefore within the rules. Now, my girls have a few of these pins that they traded nicer pins to get. Why? Because they liked the pins and the characters on them, and they do not want to trade them away. So, while you may consider one of these pins trash, they are treasure to my girls.

All this to say that we don't know what one person likes. I have seen people who thought the EuroDisney pins were the "coolest" ones, so I don't think any pin is really junk. Now, yes, you can always tell which sets the Disney Store had on clearance recently because they'll be on every CM's lanyard. Oh well.... nice pins and all but not always tradeable because they are so common. We can't do anything about that though.

Of course all this talk about the CM's "refreshing" their lanyards is crap. .

When we went on the "Backstage Magic" tour and were 'underneath' the Magic Kingdom, we saw a room that was specifically for refreshing lanyards (it had a booth-like window, would have loved to get a peek inside.)

again I was mis-understood. I meant that it is crap that we should expect or rely on them to do it. Not that refreshing doesnt' happen. I just don't believe refreshing means what some people have inferred that it does. and I firmly believe it is up to us traders to maintain the integrity of our hobby not WDW- they just jumped on the bandwagon ( a very profitable bandwagon) that we started.
