What is the Halloween Party like? I will be traveling with my DH, ds (4.5) and dd (2) and we are interested, but we don't know what to expect. The explanation on the website is pretty short and there isn't much there.

What is the deal??

Hi. I went there last year. It was so much fun. Allearsnet.com had a good amount of info on it and i also watched videos on youtube. We got there about 4pm, you have to get a special wristband for the party. Make sure you wear a costume, most people i saw did. We were pirates! Also, you can bring a trick or treat bag, we did, or use one of their provided ones (they are small). Plenty of people had their own bags. They have characters around the park to line up and get your picture taken with. We stood in line for Buzz Lightyear and Stitich. They were in Tomorrowland. The wait was not that long. Then they have lighted pumpkins up above the trick or treat stations (they are not that high into the air though, so you can't really see them from far away), you say trick or treat and they give you a handful of candy. There is a map they'll give out which says where the candy stations are. Some vary greatly in the amount they will give you. One place gave 2 pieces, while another place the CM gave one big handful using both of his hands! We ended up with each getting 5lbs of candy. Some were raisins, retro candy like lemon heads, Necco wafers, tootsie pops, and then they gave out a ton of regular size bags of Hershey's Kissables, on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride i got 7 bags! We ended up with 20 by the end of the night. They had the rides open, very little wait on any of them. It was not that crowded. It did drizzle though, so a poncho is a good idea. By Toontown they had a face painting station, we waited a long time for that and then gave up...that was a waste of time, especially since it was drizzling after that. They had dance parties, those are on the map too. You can dance with the characters, a lot of little kids did that. Then they had an amazing parade. We sat on the curb on Main Street. It took a while of waiting for it to start. The headless horseman and the guys scraping the shovels on the ground was awesome! They had great floats and the characters came right up to you. Goofy's Candy company float gave out candy! They also had a special performance by the castle, they sang and danced, it was really fun. The castle was a pretty purple. The fireworks are special too! Main Street is decorated sooo pretty and had ghosts and other images projected up on the buildings. The only thing i wished is that it lasted longer. I didnt want it to end! We didnt really ride many rides, with all the other things going on. I would surely go again. You'll have a blast!

Last year was the first year I attended, and I absolutely LOVED it!! We didn't want to have to pack costumes, so we just wore our team jerseys for our costumes (Go Steelers!!). Took up very little room in the suitcases. We enjoyed the trick or treating, walking right onto rides, but the favorite part was the parade and fireworks. No one does it like Disney. Don't hesitate to go!! You will love it!

Boo to you, and you, and you, and you!!

(A line from the Halloween Parade song. I loved it so much, I bought the CD and blast it Halloween night during trick or treating).

We went in 06 for trick'er treating, we're going back for it this year. We're going down a few days early for it, we liked it so much.

We have a gang going (15 of us. all famaily) 9 YO to 50+. We all get dressed in some kind of costume. We bring our costumes in the park with us, rent a locker, stash them, and get them on when it's time to reenter.

My 8 YO is a highschool musical (HSM) fanatic, loves Troy.

So of course all the gals (mom and aunts) will be HSM cheerleaders and I will be going as Troy (my costume will be a t-shirt that says " I'm the real Troy Bolton" on the front, "after 100,000 beers and 10,000 cheese stakes" on the back). When you see us, say hi.

It was one of our best nights of our entire vacation last year!

The "Boo to You" parade is just awesome, (I think one of the best parades at Disney) and like others have said you can't get the "Boo to You" song out of your head afterwards. :goodvibes

MNSSHP offers a lot...our advice, do the face painting and pictures with Cinderella's Coach early, as lines can be long later in the evening. Take advantage of the special events: Character Dance Parties, Villians Mix & Mingle (in front of the castle), picture-taking/seeing rare characters that you normally don't see often at Disney, trick or treating, the parade, fireworks, etc.

Lastly, enjoy some rides if you have time. Towards the end of the night, especially after the second parade, the crowds thin out and you rarely have to wait in line for the rides. We usually try to do the rides last, because, in our opinion, you can ride them any other day at MK (and usually without a wait if you take advantage of EMH), but you're really paying for the special events at the party...so get your money's worth!

Make sure to eat before you go (so you don't waste party time dining, plus you can always get a snack or munch on your candy while waiting for the parade). Also, arrive right at 4pm (your tickets might say 7pm, but they'll start letting you in at 4pm). One more thing, use the PhotoPass Photographers in order to get a really good family photo at night. Most of my pictures, that I took once it got dark, didn't come out near as well as the one's the Disney Photographers took (and I'm a Scrapbooker with a good camera). You'll want to capture all the changing colors of the castle and the "spooky" light designs up and down Main Street and sprinkled all over the park.

You'll have a great time...don't forget to dress up!

We're going September 16th and can't wait!:woohoo:

but does it get insanely crowded the way that i have read the Christmas party has gotten? i have heard that on some nights, it is so crowded that you can't really do much of anything, so it seems a waste to pay almost 50 extra dollars per person to do it.

I think weekend nights (when the locals are there) and closer to Halloween will be more crowded than say a Sunday or Tuesday in the very beginning of October. But, that is just my opinion! We have never been, but will be there for the first time on Oct. 5! We can't wait!!!

It's all that and more as the other's have posted...but with a 4 & 2 year old it might be tough! It is a late night...my 6 year old couldn't make it past 10pm and my little guy was 2.5 was terrified of the fireworks! They were extremely LOUD! Maybe if your kids were a little older they might appreciate it more.:)

Sorry if this has been answered already, but if you are already there at the MK for the day do they make everyone who doesn't have a wristband leave? I mean why buy the $40 halloween pass if you are already there for the day on your parkhopper pass? We will be there 10/17 to 10/25 and I'm just confused on how this will work.

Yes, if you don't have a wristband you will be escorted from the park as the party is only for those who have bought MNSSHP tickets.

We've decided to not use a day on our parkhopper pass and just enter the MK at 4pm on our MNSSHP ticket. My BFF is going to NASA during the day and I'm going to check out DTD.
