I have heard that term used on this site several times. What is magical Beginnings?

Terry S, I'm not a pro at this but I'll help as best I can, if I'm incorrect, someone please jump in. If you buy direct from Disney you usually get a use year about 5 months prior to your purchase date. So when you buy you get a full allotment of points. So if you buy today you might have a use year of March, so you will immediately have your points from March 2001 and then get the next full allotment in March 2002. To help with the down payment you may "sell back" a portion of the points you get with your purchase. I believe the current rate is $5/pt at VWL and $10/pt at HH. Thus if you buy 200 points at VWL you may elect to sell back 100 points and Disney will deduct $500 (assuming a VWL purchase) from the purchase price. You then would have 100 points to bank or use before March 31, 2002 (assuming an April use year). Most feel the points are worth more than the $5 that Disney offers, after all they are currently renting for $10/pt and have much more value than that when used. Hope that helped, if not, keep posting questions there's a lot of great people out here willing to help.

Disney Adventurer has pretty much explained it. I think also VB still has points available with MB of $10 per point.

Most people think the $5/point for VWL is a bad deal. If you absolutely cannot use the points, then consider renting them on the rent trade board. You would surely get more than $5. Just be careful you don't run out of time between closing and when the points would expire. You would have to watch your banking windows for that.

Personally, if I couldn't use the points this year, I would bank them and use them up next year. If I couldn't bank, then I'd even consider a 'special' trip to Disney to use them. To myself, the 'value' of the points as used for a stay at WDW is much higher than the $5 Disney gives you for MB.

I have plans on buying BCV the minute they are for sale. Have they always given you your "use month" 5 months prior to your purchase date? I agree th $5 would not be worth it, but I wouldn't mind have my use month 5 months before I actually buy. Does anyone know if they did this when they first started selling BWV and VWL or is this something they start doing once they are closing to selling out?
