I havent been to Disney in a long time, I believe the Kim possible game is new what is it and what exactly do you do. We havent really went around the World Showcase so dont know much about things there. Is Maelstom a ride that an 8 year old would be interested in ? Are there any other rides back there in the world showcase that we need to see ? :confused3

Malestrom is fine for little kids. We took a 6 year old girl on it and while she didnt really pay much attention to the narrator, she enjoyed the scenery. She LOVED the Gran Fiesta Tour in Mexico with the Donald updates.

Haven't done Kim Possible yet, so I can't say there.

Kim Possible is based off a Disney Channel cartoon of the same name, featuring kid secret agents. You're given a Kimmunicator (really a Verizon Cell Phone) and sent on a mission to one of the pavilions. You follow the clues which often set off interactive surprises cleverly hidden in plain sight.

It's really a lot of fun; DW and I (20-somethings) had a blast doing several of the countries last time. We're sure to do the remaining ones on our next trip, if not repeat some of the other countries.

Maelstrom has a couple scary parts and a backwards drop, but I think that most 8 year olds should be fine.

Actually, the drop on Maelstrom is forwards, but you THINK you're going to go backwards, unless I'm mistaken. Though it does have a bit of scariness, I think most 8 year olds would be fine.

Never done Kim Possible, so I can't speak for that.

Actually I think you are both right. I'm pretty sure Maelstrom has two small drops... one backward and one forward. The first drop is backward ("back, back, over the falls!") and the second one is forward.

My boys (5 and 3) love the Maelstrom. I love it, too. The Kim Possible thing is really fun, too. DS5 had a blast with it even before he knew who Kim Possible was. I highly recommend it!

They call the backwards part of Maelstrom a "drop" since it is at an angle, but it's not steep at all and you don't go very fast. Then you pivot again and go quickly down a steeper forward drop that's not particularly tall - it's pretty much over as it begins. It takes less time then saying "Woosh!"

I used to go on it all the time as a kid and i hate drops - the one in Pirates makes me tummy feel funny.

We went last Dec and my then DS8 LOVED Kim Possible! As a matter of fact EPCOT was his favorite Park! and much to my dismay the World Showcase was his favorite part b/c of Kim Possible. I planned Epcot 1st in our trip b/c I wanted MK to be the crown jewel in our vaca. He LOVED Epcot so much that once we finally got to the MK he was completely uninterested in the "kiddie rides". He begged everyday to go back to Epcot. Kim Possible is a lo of fun! Have you ever done MagiQuest? It is almost exactly like MagiQuest execept you get a cell phone instaed of a magic wand.

pm'd you a link that tells you *everything* there is to know about kim possible, spoiler-free

(that little bit of 'fair use' came from the imagineering field guide to Epcot, 2nd edition)

Thanks everyone for all the information ! I think will will try both,Im sure my 8 year old will love them ! Does anyone know about how long Kim Possible will take? :yay:

We did 2 KP missions last year and my DD10 really enjoyed it! She also has enjoyed Maelstrom and The Boat ride in Mexico since she was tall enough to ride them.

EPCOT is also one of her fav. parks. That and AK. She just loves going around the WS and seeing and doing things. Loves doing the mask. Also one of her top 3 rides is TT.
