In some of the posts that I've been reading, I've seen people reference Lilly Belle. What is this? I'm not familiar. Also, in referring to something that is wide right???? Not sure what that means.

Thanks,

The Lilly Belle is a special car on the Disneyland Rail Road. Go to the main street station immediately upon park opening to reserve a ride. :)

"Wide right" is a technique for getting one of the first rides on RSR in the morning. When you get to the rope (actually, a gas hose), you stand at the right-most end and stay there as you get walked down the path. Because the entrance to the ride is to the right, you're in position to get in it before anyone else.

"Wide Right" is a method used to be one of the first in line for Radiator Springs Racers at rope drop. At park opening, the path to CarsLand just past Carthay Circle on Buena Vista St. is blocked by cast members using a long gasoline hose as a "rope". They slowly lead the growing mass of people into Radiator Springs down Route 66. If you are part of this group being led in, stay to the right, and you'll have the advantage of being on the side of the entrance to the Radiator Springs Racers attraction. If you are toward the front of the group, you'll pretty much be one of the first 20 in line for the ride and won't have to wait like everyone else will...for the rest of the day; standby line still gets to be about on hour long even on "slower" weekdays.

The Lilly Belle (from what I understand) was Walt and his wife's private car on the Disneyland Railroad, named after his wife, Lillian. If they have it out on the tracks, just ask a cast member at the Main St. Station if you can ride in it. Sometimes you'll get lucky.

The Lily Belle is a passenger train car that is said to have been decorated by Walt's wife, Lillian. It's decorated in a Victoria style with sofas, armchairs, and lace curtains. It doesn't always run, but when it is you have to sign up at Main St. Station to ride it. Keep in mind that the entire DL Railroad will be down for at least a year beginning on January 10th, in preparation for the building of Star Wars Land.

Wide Right is a technique for getting on Radiator Springs Racers first thing in the morning. So, if you're not going to be at rope drop on a non-early entry day you won't be able to utilize it. Basically, if you are there before rope drop they will hold everyone at the "rope" at the end of Buena Vista St. You want to stay to the far right of the crowd because as they walk everyone down to Cars Land they will start funneling people to the right side to form one long line. You have a better chance of being on of the first groups on the ride if you are already over on the right side. You can google YouTube videos about it. Even if you don't make rope drop, if you're there within 30min of opening you shouldn't have a very long wait to get on the ride, then you can grab a fast pass to ride again later or use single rider line. Anyone over age 7 can use SRL, just know that your group will not sit together. It's great when you want to ride several times. Other rides that have SRL are:
CA Screamin'
Grizzly River Run
Goofy's Sky School
Soarin' (rarely faster than stand-by)
Indiana Jones
Matterhorn
Splash Mtn.

From what I remember, the Lilly Belle used to be a special car that was reserved for Walt and his guests. Now anyone can ride it if they ask and if they have it running that day. You start at the Main Street Station and ride it all around the park. During the ride, there will be a conductor telling you some Disney history. Its a really neat experience, so ride it if you can. Oh and you get a souvenir train ticket after you ride.

They stopped it for a while. It's been back for a few months.
And if you're lucky enough to get to ride, buy a lottery ticket that day!! It's become so well known, it's really hard to get a reservation now, even if you're there when the park opens.

It was running while we were there, but it was always empty. I imagine it was because of the sweltering heat. I was bummed not to get to ride this trip, but I'd rather not get heat stroke.

The one day we asked last week about the Lilly Belle they said they were short handed that day and didn't have any extra staff for it. It was nice to see it on the tracks.

We were there last week and the Lilly Belle was out on the tracks but they said they don't allow passengers when the heat is high.

That's true. It can get pretty warm in there, so they won't let anyone ride if it's too hot. They also need an extra cast member on duty to ride with you.
