What is Jersey Week?

What is this "Jersey Week" that I see mentioned throughout this board?

Are there particular events / dates that signify "Jersey Week"? If so, what are they (i.e. special days at certain parks, etc.)

Anything crowd issues to avoid or be aware of?

Any input would be appreciated.

Jersey Week is when the entire state of New Jersey descends on WDW, wreaking havoc everywhere and teaching everyone to speak in a very unattractive accent.

Of course, I'm kidding. We Jerseyans are really a nice group. New Jersey teachers have a convention in November and the schools close for 2 or 3 days out of the week, so most families choose that time to go to Disney. I'm not sure what the dates are for 2004. I really don't think you would notice a crowd difference and there are no special activities.

NJ teacher convention dates are November 4h and 5th.

I don't have that accent!!!

No special events, it's just that a lot of people go because of the teachers convention. It's also usually election day week so many schools are closed at least 3 out of 5 days.

In addition to what Gillian said, these dates are usually the same week or the weekend before Election Day, and I know when I was in school in NJ most of the school gyms were used as Polling Locations and we usually had Election Day off too!
So, it's very easy for a family to sneak in almost a full week at WDW!

There is definitely a spike in attendance during Jersey Week and President's Day Weekend........

We used to go every year during the teachers conventions. We would bump into so many people from our town while there. It was not that crowded compared to the summer months.

MY DGDs birthday is Nov. 10. The first day of NJEA teacher's convention falls on that date in 2005, so we're taking her to WDW to celebrate her 12th bd. I've never been in November before, but will look forward to seeing lots of other NJeans there with us.

Just kidding, another Jersey girl here - and I like the Garden State. I've never been in November, but will start going during Jersey Week in 2005. Can't wait!!
