I have visited Disney twice - one for our honeymoon (which I was unsure about before we went, I might add) and once four years ago before my first child was born. We stayed on Disney property both times and it was amazing. I love the whole feel of the place and now, awaiting our next visit with our kids in 2007, I am driving my wife mad because I can't get enough of Disney - websites, vids, brochures, books etc.

My main question is, which you may be able to help with, is why do I find the whole WDW experience so emotional. I spend the first ten minutes on Main Street fighting tears. I watch the promotional holiday DVD and get a huge lump in my throat - I can't even listen to our CD's of parade music without getting emotional. I am a 16 stone man of 37 years and find this most strange. Does anyone else get like this? What makes you cry re WDW?

Sorry if this sounds weird but I have always wondered as I tend to make a bit of a fool of myself at times - the worst being in the MK Lion King show watching the pre show - I visibly cried. Oh dear!!

HELP!

Heck all my hubby has to do is look at pics of his lil baby girl in her Minnie dress sitting in that cute heart shaped chair with her brother holding her hand and he bent to pick up her blanket --- looks like he is proposing, and i here a sniffle. OH that picture was taken 15 years ago :teeth:

I'm with ya brotha!! We go every year and ...man...well... I can't talk right now.. I LOVE DISNEY... MY DW...MY DKIDS.. aw geez.. you know what I mean! :sunny: I hope no one saw me!

Disney was the place that DH went with his dad every year before he died. When we went on our honeymoon to Disney, the sight of Cinderella's castle brought tears to DH's eyes...MK was his dad's absolute favorite park at Disney...we both just stood there as tears came down our faces......it is something I will never forget and a memory I will cherish always! It was almost like his dad was there with us....DH said he felt as if his dad was there...and he's felt that on every trip since!

my DH who doesn't even shed tears at funerals cries when he sees the castle for the first time, every trip. he grabs my hand and shakes "hunny look look its the castle" he's like a 5 years old!

Crazy for Disney, my DH is the same way!
PS I love it how your trips to Dis keep adding more and more people that's cute. :thumbsup2

Dossie, I am the same age as you and a woman, but I cried like a tiny baby on Main Street last September! Especially when, not but 2 minutes into the park, the Dapper Dans called out, "Welcome to the Magic Kingdom! Where are you from?" and when we said "Chicago!" they sang "Chicago, Chicago that toddlin' town!" and then sang Happy Birthday to our two children. It is just so sweet and innocent an unaffected, it gets me every time. Makes me think the whole world could be one big, happy family...perhaps if we all had a Dole Whip I.V. drip and a Golden Fastpass!!!!

OK so now you have me crying just reading this thread! OP just wait... you think you cry now, wait 'til you see your kids there, the first time they see that castle, will really get ya!

This is probably weird - but I tend to get teary and emotional while watching any of the park parades.

:goodvibes glad I'm not alone, I was so embarrassed, now I feel like one of the gang! :grouphug:

anyone got a kleenex? :teeth:

My dh fights tears every time we go. He always loses the battle when we meet Mickey. He's 37 too and his first trip to Disney was in 1976 so I think it holds a lot of happy memories for him.

we went in 2002 and stayed in asm. the first full day there we watched the parade from in front of the castle and our 2 girls, Beth was 5 and Ellie was 2 at the time, were called out into the parade as the floats started and I filmed it all. I cannot watch it without snivelling like a 2 year old.

We are going in July 07 and I know when we see their pics on the monuments at Epcot I ll start again.

Wonderful place.

Steve

:goodvibes I get really emotional with WDW too. I have the pleasure of taking my DH to Disney for his very first time ever in Nov. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIS EXPRESSION!! You have no idea how I am looking forward to this trip just to experience everything brand new with him!! pixiedust:

GeeeZ! I'm welling up just reading this!!!!

For me, a grown woman, it's the sound of the MK train whistle, the sight of the castle, and the cotton-candy and bubble gum smell of Main Street. The balloons the characters and the fireworks...Wishes!!!

I wonder if it's because I went to Disney Land so many times as a kid and that lump in my throat is thanks to the awesome memories I now share with my little ones!

:goodvibes

 Oh, you gals with the emotional men, count yourselves so lucky!!! Some men for whatever reason cannot or will not shed a tear! I know a few!

OK, I to must admit that I get all emotional everytime we go and I see the castle for the first time . I to tell my DW, can you believe it that we are here again! I am just like a little kid at the candy store. I really get all choked up when I look at my DD6 having the best time of her life and remembering that she is not Daddy's Little Girl anymore. :sad2: OOH how they grow up so fast. ::yes::

Have a Disney Day
John
:wave2:

Can't wait to get back to Disney for that feeling.

OK here goes. I am a 36 year old Dad to a 9 year old DS and a 6 year old DD. I get choked up just thinking about spending time with them and DW at MK. We love Disney so much that the only thing we talk about is going back, and what we would be doing if we were there right now. They aren't going to be this young and excited forever, and that is what gets me tearing up when we first walk in. The place is so magical because it makes you realize what is important in life. I cry just preparing for the day when they willl say ,"Dad we are bored with Disney."

This is such a sweet thread!!

My DH who thinks he's a tough guy got teary eyed TODAY watching Disney's The Fox & the Hound on the Disney Toon Channel!!! He is sensitive, but not in front of too many people.

Don't tell him I told you this! ;)

This thread is great

What a great thing - I shall walk down MAin Street with my head (and tears) held high next year and look for all the other guys crying around the parks.

Fantastic!!
