What IS it about those people from IL?

Why does it seem that there are extra special nice people who come from the state of IL? When I first visited this board it didn't take me long to realize how wonderful Dan Murphy is and he's from IL. And now I've come to realize that my favorite Fairy Topper-Mother is also from IL. I see a connection here. Is it something in the water? Can we export it to make the rest of the people in the world as kind and caring as those from IL? I need to know!

I wish it were as easy to spread the kindness to others....I try very hard too but sometimes it just doesn't take over in them....

I don't know what it is...but I thank you for the compliment. It's all in how I was raised I guess....you give to others and you'd like to be given....and kindness is the best thing I can give!!!!

Thanks for the reminder Iluvdxl. I was wondering if you might have some IL ties yourself. With all those wonderful posts you do every day on "Did you know" and "Strange but True"...there's got to be some IL in there somewhere!

Well, I'm from Illinois too, but if you ask my kids right about now, I don't think they'd tell you I was nice. I just sent them downstairs to clean up the basement and they are NOT happy!

LOL, Liz, maybe it is the water. I know there are a lot of DIS folks from IL and most I have met are very nice. Being nice to people usually goes full loop and as Lady M's quote in my signature says, 'Random acts of kindness.....are never really lost. They live forever.....

HA! You OBVIOUSLY didn't see how poor me was treated at our last DIS meet. I was trying hard to be a good little DISer and make cookies (and not be like Brian who lets the Cookie Factory do it for him! ). In the process, I broke my finger the morning of the meet. Now, I THOUGHT I might get some sympathy seeing as how I was doing something for THEM. WRONG-O!! All I got was some teasing, a sign on the oven and laughs! I knew it was going to be a long day when I got to Patrick's and he and Brian were already laughing at poor DG! Not sure what a girl's gotta' do to get some of that niceness directed her way!! I've certainly been nothing but nice to all of them, all of the time!!


But seriously, yes, we do have some very special IL DISers! I'm glad to be a part of them.
