What is it about the first full week of December?

From an RCI exchange perspective, it seems Dec 5, 2009 check in is very few and far between. I was looking to do two weeks between T-day & Christmas next year. Is there something significant happening during that week I should be aware of when planning?

This one of the busiest times for DVC resorts, points are low and all the Christmas happenings are going on. Lots of meets and special events too. Busy, Busy, Busy.

Some DVC owners have trouble booking these dates unless they call exactly at 11 months. I have been locked out of my home resort for a couple of days when I failed to call on the exact 11 month day for an early December reservation, and even being on the waitlist for 11 months did not work. I am actually pleased to hear that it is hard to get the beginning of December through RCI.

This is a great time to go, we've done it multiple times. We always book at 11 months out because of the popularity of seeing the christmas decorations, the low point cost combined with low crowds.
You could get lucky and pull an exchange during the first 2 weeks in December but it'd be luck. I wouldn't bank an RCI week and do an ongoing search without booking a back up at another area timeshare with another RCI week. Good luck.

Well, I've seen numerous Nov 28 & Dec 11 weeks, so perhaps many people try for 2 weeks? From what I've read, studios are most popular with owners, so hopefully this will work in my favor since I need at least a 1 bedroom.

I won't buy any tickets or airline tickets until I have DVC booked, and as far as I'm concerned, the only way I'd ever want to do WDW is stay on site! This is most likely a once or twice in a lifetime type of vacation, so if the trade doesn't come through, we'll just try for another time.

Actually I've seen several weeks during that time but they were several months ago.

I've been a member for 9 years and have booked that week many times, it's a great time to go with the Christmas decorations and activities. I always book at 11 months (BWV). Have it again this year!

Interesting that you are told studios are most popular with owners. I find that hard to believe. We are just two of us and we rarely to never stay in a studio. I think the only reason you might see some dates open in RCI for that time period is people who are exchanging out just one week at a time, and that is probably why you can't find two.
