Why are you Disney obsessed? What is it about that place?

For me, I think it is fun to plan and so many possibilities to do things a little different each time. Also, compared to other trips we've taken- Disney is just so easy -there's the food, entertainment, hotel all in one place.

I love seeing my kids there at different ages. Our last trip with 11, 9, 5, and 2 yr old was the best yet.

For our family, it is the total togetherness. We always have a great time but it isn't so much the rides or the food or the entertainment... though all are phenomenal... it is the fact that your family does everything together. Every activity is family oriented, family safe, and just good clean fun. The planning is great family fun... the executing of the plans is more fun... and the memories... well, they are truly priceless. What could be better? We have this concentrated family time... it is all about the family for us.

Family Bonding

For some reason this is the only place where my 3 kids are happy. So when they are happy you are happy which leads to a nice vacation. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
I also love to just feel like I'm escaped to a happy world (from work).

For me, it takes me back. I'm always a kid a Disney, even when I'm 30 years old with a husband and child. It's all about the feelings for me. And I hope that it passes along to my DS too.

I know what you mean about the feelings...my DDalmost 9 (in a couple weeks) asked me if Mickey is just a man in a suit. I thought for a few minutes before answering her...I ended up saying this "When you walk into Magic Kingdom, it really is like Magic. You're imagination takes over and you are transported to another world. Even if you're an adult, you feel like a kid again. When you're on the Dumbo ride, you really feel like you're riding on an elephant's back, and when you see the Carosel, you see real horses, and when you meet Mickey Mouse, it's REALLY Mickey Mouse." I told her that it is kinda hard to explain and she smiled and said "No Mom, I get it....and right now I have goosebumps because you're right, it is magical at Disney World." THIS is what I love about WDW!!

I agree with what's been said...family time, nostalgia, and it's just plain FUN! But there's something else too...and I don't think I can describe it. I mean there are other places that we have family time, fun, and remind us of our childhood. But Disney has something else that is unique. :)

For me it has become about family togetherness, having a comfortable, familiar happy vacation, the planning, the memories, feeling like a child. It is a combination of everything that makes me totally Disney obsessed. Disney has been a huge part of our lives for the past 12 years. We have loved every minute of it. :cheer2:

For me, it's all about the castle...I feel like a little girl all over again everytime I see it. Seriously, my family is worry-free, happy, and content when we are immersed in the Disney magic. Like others have said before, it is just a feeling that you get while your're there. There are many out there that just don't "get it" but, our family really does. We would drive 20hrs every month if we could.:thumbsup2

I agree with all that's been said! My addition to the conversation is that we use Disney as our family "gathering" place. My brother & his family live in the south while we're in Pa. So we try to meet a couple of times each year at the best place in the world. What better place for a family with all different ages!! We go from 5 to 82!!! :goodvibes Something for everyone!!

For me and my family it's just being in Disney World that makes us happy. The family always looks forward to going each and every year. It's the smiles on my childrens faces everytime the meet a character be it Mickey to Cinderella.
It's knowing the money we spent no matter how much is always worth it when we're at Disney World just from the smiling faces of our children while they all eat their Mickey bars.
It's the smiles from each and every cast member we meet and say hello to, it's the meals we all get to sit down together as a family and eat.
It's riding the rides during the day as a family and watching the fireworks at night as a family too.
It's leaving your cares and troubles far away as soon as you see the "Welcome to Disney World, Where Dreams Come True" sign and hear all our children scream with joy.
And finallly, it's being a new DVC member and knowing we can enjoy Disney anytime we wish and knowing our children's children will enjoy it too.

All the troubles of the world disappear while I am in Disney. When I am there, castles and characters are real!

Where else is it totally acceptable for a 34 year old to act like she's 8 again? Your entire vacation, every cast member and character make you feel like they are there just for you. To top it all off, I enjoy watching the magical feelings that I have transform on the faces of my two little ones. It's truely magical! :wizard:

Time with my family, we are so busy in day to day life we don't get alot of time to relax with each other...our days are filled with activities that send us all in different directions. I also like the fact that we have no worries there we forget them at the airport.

For us it's our happy place. Disney gives us the opportunity to just be. We can ignore the extended family mess that we seem to be thrown into. We can ignore work, the phone stops ringing. We can ignore the news, the papers. Everything stops. We get to play with our kids and have those moments that you can't get anywhere else. We take total advantage of everything Disney (DDP, ME, etc) and we have absolutely NO worries while there.

It is truly our happy family place. :goodvibes

Well said - wdw it our happy place too ;) :cloud9:

I just LOOOVE it all. The planning, the packing and all the obsessing. The time spent with my family and the reminders of my childhood. It's all :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc :lovestruc  :lovestruc

We forget about everything outside of WDW while there. No stress, no worries, and you get to feel like a kid again. No where else in this country can you do that. We know the characters aren't "real" but it doesn't matter. We tried thinking of other places to go, and we have gone to many, but we just couldn't think of any place better. I look forward to going every year now. As my wife says "I want to live there.":cool1:
