and how long is it going to be around? From some of the posts I've read, I'm assuming it's some type of special, temporary version of Space Mtn related to Star Wars. Can someone provide some more details? We've never been on the DL version of Space and have been looking forward to it. We're visiting in April and curious if this will be back to normal or if we'll see the special one?

TIA

It's an overlay for Space Mountain that includes screens with visual Star Wars effects and a John Williams soundtrack. It's incredible. Truly incredible.

I don't believe an end date has been announced. But I think I saw speculation that it was going away in May.

It's phenomenal though. I hope it never changes.

Screens inside the ride? So it won't be completely dark inside? Is that weird to see the tracks on Space?

In the past, Space Mountain rockets would race around the track in a very dark building with just stars and the giant chocolate chip cookie* in the 'sky.' Now the ships race around the track, but you are in the middle of a Star Wars themed galactic battle. The building is still dark, but it's fun with virtual ships racing by. Picture the second picture, but dark sky like in the first with virtual ships whizzing by and appropriate dialogue and music.

* chocolate cookie was really an asteroid, but we all called it the giant chocolate chip cookie.

It's still dark inside, but they project images (like the laser beams from the X-wings) on the screens. It's very similar to Ghost Galaxy in that way. You can see the tracks, but I feel like you can kind of see the tracks normally, so the lighting didn't seem that different to me.

As others have said, there is no official end date yet. They briefly mentioned a date, but that info was deleted, so I think it probably won't end until the popularity dramatically ends. I'm curious to see if HSM will last through the summer and then give way to SMGG or will there be no SMGG this year if HSM is still very popular.

Hmmmm.... usually for roller coasters I am ok but for "screen rides", like Star Tours or the Universal type simulated rides I need a Dramamine. Thoughts on this for those who get motion sickness from screen rides?

Oddly, no one in my family has been able to ride Space Mountain for a few years without getting sick. We used to ride it with no issues. Star Tours has always made me sick.

I can't ride Star Tour or many motion simulator rides like it without getting motion sick, but Space (and Hyper Space) were fine for me. I think it's because you aren't watching a screen for the whole attraction, but rather it's more like an occasional imagine that appears next to you.

Hyperspace Mountain made me nauseous. Regular SM also makes me nauseous, as does Star Tours. I'm fine on every other ride...although the jarring on Matterhorn bothers me more than it used to (but not in a motion sickness way)

I think if you just look forward on HSM and don't try to follow the screens, which there aren't that many of or the projections you'll be fine. But it is very loud and the blaster effects are high pitched and to me it does get irritating by the end.

I found HSM to have a slower start compared to the traditional version. Normally, I need a break after Space Mountain, but with HSH, I was much better.

Has anyone else noticed that?

I think we'll save it for either the end of the day or right before a break hysterical in case I need time to shake it off
