What is Hoop Dee Doo?

Ok, what's a Hoo Dee Doo Revue :) lol

Seriously? Ok... here ya go!

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is an old-fashioned dinner show that includes foot-stompin' music, nostalgic comedy and an all-you-care-to-eat dinner at Pioneer Hall in Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Get ready for good, ol' country fun!

A long-time family favorite, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is hosted in a rustic dance hall, with rousing Wild West dancing, singing, and zany vaudeville comedy. You never know what to expect from the high-spirited Claire de Lune, Johnny Ringo, Dolly Drew, Six Bits Slocum, Flora Long and Jim Handy.

As the Pioneer Hall Players perform skits and early song standards, equally sassy Cast Members serve your countrified feast. Between laughs, chow down on pails of all-you-care-to-eat American favorites like fried chicken, smoked BBQ pork ribs, seasonal vegetable, baked beans, fresh baked corn bread and strawberry shortcake. Unlimited draft beer, wine, sangria and soft drinks are included for Guests 21 years of age or older (proper ID required).

As the performance rounds out, you may be asked to join in the finale—a musical tribute to Davy Crockett. Your inner bumpkin just might emerge.

Seriously :) lol, never heard of it. thanks for the write-up. had no clue it was a dinner type of show. thought it was something the Disboard folks talk about lol.

Cool! :thumbsup2 I know this doesn't belong on this board... but it is our favorite dinner show!

Has it been running constantly since, well, about forever? Or did they stop at one point then bring it back?

I don't remember much about dining on previous trips from something like 25 years ago and more. Most of it, I suspect, has changed a lot. Not too many other attractions are still the same either. Plus they've built like a dozen resort hotels since then too, and two whole new parks. ;) But 25 years ago or thereabouts my grandparents (living on FL west coast at the time) took me and a cousin or two to WDW, stayed at Ft Wilderness with their RV, and definitely took us to Hoop-Dee-Doo. We may have even gone there on two separate but similar and fairly closely-spaced (within a couple years of each other) trips.

we just LOVE it! not a fancy meal. great chicken, ribs, salad, corn bread, beans, strawberry shortcake.
a big plus for the DDp is the tip is included (but feel free to tip more), and beer and wine is included!!!
the show is a mite corny, but FUN! we went twice, just us 2 adults, and it was a lot of fun, and good food.

if you are going at christmas time, go ahead of time and rent a golf cart to see the many decorations around the campgrounds. anytime, you still get the nice boat ride over there from MK. (just make sure to leave plenty travel time!)

The Hoop Dee do Review is the longest continously running show in the world.......since 1971 and it is a great time!...AKK:)

i tried to get reservations there after this post but it is a no go for beginning of Dec.

If it is something you really want to "Doo", keep trying. It plays 3 times a day (I think the times are 5, 7:15 and 9:30). Don't worry about the Cat. seating either. We have sat in all three for HDDR and we actually like the Cat. 3 seating the best.

Actually, Agatha Christie's "Mousetrap" is the longest-running show in the world. It opened in 1952. It is still playing in London.

Hoop de Doo Revue started in 1973, but not in its present form. The hall where it is performed was not originally intended to house a dinner show. Here is some additional history.
