What is going on with Disney Dollars??? I can't get them anywhere!!

My mom has tried a few NJ malls as well and everyone is out or almost out of them. I'm guessing maybe they are coming out with new ones, but how long will it take for them to be available??? Does anyone have info on what is going on with them?? My son's birthday is next month and I've been telling everyone to get him Disney dollars.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that Disney no longer owns the Disney stores. Did you ask if they will be getting any more in???

I just stopped by the DS today. The new ones are being stocked in April. All our store had left was $1's. I got the last 9. Sorry. I think you can order them through Disney Directly.

It has nothing to do with Disney not owning the Disney Store anymore but that they are changing the design of the Disney Dollars to coinside with the 50th anniv. on 05/05/2005.

Our local Disney Store has had them in stock but they have been the old ones from the 2000 time frame.

My local store told me they were redesigning them for the 50th anniversary as well. However, she told me they expect them in March. Good Luck.

We purchased Disney Dollars yesterday at the S. Portland, ME store and our friend Beth the store Mgr. told us, that they are redesigning for the 50th Birthday Celebration and the new ones will be out soon, most likely April. The ones we got were the 2003 ones and fives and 1998 ten. I did mention to her that people on the boards were saying they were having a hard time finding them in the stores, and she said that they had stopped shipping to the stores right after Christmas but were now once again sending Disney Dollars to the stores.

We had the same problem here too. We went in Jan. and ended up with 47 ones. I cleaned them out. I figured they were re-doing them for the celebration. We went back a few weeks ago and they were restocked but they were the old version. I would definately try back again.

So far I have been lucky each time I have gone. I did get a few of the ones with Chicken Little on them. Promoting the new Spring movie. Although last time I went they only had 1s and 5s. But I don't care how I get them just so I get the ones I need. I have 8 months of saving so I should have no problem getting my 300.00 worth before I leave.


I wish they made a giftcard that was good in the parks. That would make is so much easier.

I tried a Disney store in Buffalo NY and one in Syracuse NY and both were out.... said they sell them as fast as they get them..... Our store said they get their shipments in on Tuesday - maybe check with your local store and find out the day their shipments arrive and call that day....

If I remember correctly (and that isn't saying much... ), I think I got some of the new Disney $ last month at our Disney store.

OK, I just went upstairs to check and I have some Disney $1's that have Disneyland and "Open 1955" on them. The $5 bills have California Adventure Park on them and the $10's have Tinkerbell in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. I think those might be the new ones because I hadn't seen them before and I purchased a bunch for our December trip that were different than the ones I have now. Anyways, sorry to ramble.....the new Disney $'s look neat though!

Yes, the Disney Dollars are being redone and the only timeframe we (CMs) have been given is sometime in the spring - my store in PA has been out for weeks now and they have been very hard to find in our whole area. I use them myself as a way to save for my trip every year so it is very frustrating - not to mention that we have people requesting them everyday. Hopefully the new ones will arrive sooner rather than later

I also read on one of our trips to Orlando that the change is really due to counterfit Disney Dollars showing up at WDW, especially at Downtown Disney. Seems there is a ring in the Orlando area printing up their own "funny" money.

If I understand correctly, Disney may be implementing WDW- and DL-specific gift cards and gift certificates in the near future. They might be phasing out Disney Dollars in their place. Just a hunch.
