/what is going on Dec. 6-10/ my last trip for a while

I just booked a flight for a quick solo trip to the parks for Dec 6-10. I want to see the decorations and some of the holiday shows.
I tried to book a studio and there is nothing available. The site did recommend a one bedroom during that time but the 10th is the only night available.
This will be my last trip on my AP and I am going to let it expire this year and not visit the parks in 2014.I would have changed my mind and bought my grandson and I APs if they had offered the same discount as last year.
What is going on at the parks during that time that nothing is available?

It is one of the top 2-3 most popular weeks for DVC members due to the holiday decor, activities and low points. Most of the resorts are completely full at the 7 month mark, with the exception of SSR and occasionally AKV and OKW.

If your flights are not flexible, this may be a nice opportunity to try a cash reservations at a resort that you've never tried. Or you could check Swan/Dolphin.

We're planning on going next year for that week and we will book it at exactly the 11 month mark.

Popular DVC time like others have mentioned. I think they also film the holiday parade the 1st weekend in December?

I'm going Dec. 10-20. I know those first few days were booked solid, and then it opened up after the weekend of Dec. 14-15. In fact, my waitlist for Beach Club came through for Fri and Sat night (Dec. 13 & 14), and for VGF for Sun. Dec. 15-20.

It's not a crazy busy park time though. Just very popular for DVC bookings.

As everyone says...it is a popular time to book at DVC. Having owned since early DVC days...we booked in the month of December...to then visit also with family in FL. Enjoy the stay....as I am trying to organize a trip for 2014 with a large number of the family. I will, however, due it at the 11 month window as others mentioned. Nothing like the holidays at WDW and DVC.

The parks are at a 4 i think and the DVC resorts are at a 10+ I always book my december trip at 11 months and i am a SSR owner. I always try at 7 months to change it up sometimes i am successful and sometmes i am not

We would LOVE to be at SSR during the 1st week of Dec. It's awesome.

We will be at AKV Jambo this year and would prefer SSR. Honestly.

In 2009, the the Christmas parade filming was that first weekend in December. We were told it was the first time the parade filming had ever had so much rain that they had to extend the filming days. Disney was scrambling for hotel rooms, had to fly out some cheer squads and bring in others.

We checked out of AKV and into BLT the day after filming ended. CMs said over 2/3 of the rooms had people checking out/in that day.
