Oh I forgot, a great gift for any child is the new FLIP by pure Digital. Its a camera and video and its so easy to upload to email. My girls use them to send picture and video to grandparents etc. Of all the gadets I have used this one works. Love it that I can send from my laptop by just plugging into USB port.

Youngest DD is almost 11. This Christmas, she will be getting an iPod nano - an upgrade from the treasured-but-inadequate mall giveaway MP3player she presently has! That will be the "big gift"

In addition to her stocking, she will be getting a few small gifts as well:-

Art or craft supplies - she LOVES that sort of thing
Books
Speakers for the iPod
Game(s) for her Nintendo DS
An inexpensive handbag - she keeps taking up her big sister's bag. Definitely not Coach; I wouldn't even buy a Coach handbag for my DD16!

I'm sure I'll find something else to add as I shop over the next few weeks!

Your posts make me wonder if DD11 even knows what Vera Bradley is? Maybe it hasn't hit the middle schools here in the NE because she hasn't mentioned it yet and she is the fashion guru in this house:rotfl2: And, for the poster who mentioned the last AG doll, I feel your pain, we did it last Christmas:sad1:

DD is getting (all bought and wrapped)

Brother sewing machine
Northface jacket ($50 backcountry.com)
Subsciption to PopStar for one year
Scene-it, Disney Version
Timex watch
Tripod for her digital camera and FLIP camcorder she got last year
Easel, canvases and paints
Webcam (her brother in the Air Force is getting one too)

And the traditional XmasEve pjs.

I just last month spent $70 on the Sperry Topsiders....now UGGS are the new thing?????:confused3
180$$???:scared1: Now I see why they call them UGG!:lmao:

UGGs
a drum set (yes, real drums) and drum lessons
Animal crossing Wii

and other stuff

DSD13 is very young for her age and is getting:

Littlest Pet Shop Tail-Waggin' Fitness Center as her big gift - I wasn't going to buy LPS this year since I really feel like she's too old, but she loves them and that's what she really wants, so... :goodvibes

She's also getting under the tree:

American Girl Step-Dancing Dress
Christmas Hello Kitty Plush
Invader Zim Tee Shirt and Socks from Hot Topic
Jonas Brothers Hardcover Book - the one that was just released
PJs and an Ornament for the tree - traditions for us

Wow, do we get away scot-free compared to so many of your lists! It helps that she is one of 5, so they are all used to knowing that with so many kids in one family, no one's requests can be too extreme. :dance3:

ETA: I should also mention that she gets a second load of stuff at her mom's house! With that info added, I don't feel so guilty about the size of her list!

Vera bradley isn't big here in Ca and neither is aeropostal. I guess different regions are different.
My kids have most of the things listed on peoples lists already.

DD 10 almost 11 is getting a laptop and some DS games including the rock band one.
DD 12 just before Christmas is getting 500 in amex gift cards. some burts bees stuff, an Ipod docking station, a free printer I got and thats about it.

From grandma they will all 3 get the latest rock band world tour thing.

Still need stocking stuffers.

My girls were done with AG a few years ago.

Now I really wanna be a tween!!

Each of our child, including 10yr old DD gets on gift from Santa.

They will each gift a gift from DH & I
Siblings purchase a gift for the other.
Something from my mom (She sends $40/child)
Something from my sis (she sends $25/child)

So total each child opens 4-5 gifts and gets one from Santa.
This is every year.

I wonder how they respond or hear if their friends get 10-12 items including ipod & purses?
Makes me think.

What do y'all get them for birthdays?

I know she is the ONLY 12 yo girl without one

Nope, she's not! My dd11 (soon to be 12) won't be getting a phone this year either!! Here is her list, and we'll be choosing from this (she'll likely get most things, between Christmas and her early Jan. b-day):

Uggs
Wii (a family gift)
ipod nano
Stylin' Studio (anyone have experience with this? She really wants it!)
monogrammed warm-up suit from her dance studio

I do have to ask, when did all the cool stuff for tweens get SOOOO expensive?!

I just wanted to tell you that Limited Too in store or online has Stylin' Studio for $60. Their entire store (besides nintendo DS is on sale B1G1 free mix and match. There is also a 30% code for online and coupon for in store.
I was looking at it for my dd but she already has Digi makeover for the TV so I decided against it.

Thanks! This just might be Grandma's gift to her (I do shopping for my mother-in-law), and if I can get it for less than I've seen in stores, then there will be more things for Grandma to give her (which Grandma loves!!!). I'm shooting for Black Friday...

Hannah (10) is getting:

A pink DS (upgrade from her GBA)

A trip to WDW (WOW! None of her friends are going)

A Daschund Webkin (already have two)

A Dooney Bitty Bag (bought on a VERY good sale)

She already has a digital camera, & a nano. She just got a new Northface, and isn't really interested in any of the aero or american eagle or whatnont clothing. I tried to talk to her about a cell phone and she wasn't interested.

I already bought pjs and will probably throw in some art sets and maybe the create a crystal set...

My DD10 is having a hard time this year figuring out what she wants. She originally wanted a hamster (told her it was a good snack for our cat), then a rabbit (good snack for our Beagle). So she gave up on pets. She asked for Wall E movie and plush, and some Webkinz.

Here's what she is getting:

Wii (gift for family)
few games for Wii
2 Webkinz
Wall E DVD and plush, Kit movie
2 pairs of pjs
slippers
Books
some other misc items for her stocking

I am surprised at how many girls at this age are still into American Girl. My DD went thru the catalog once and said she'd like a couple things in there, but then didn't really care when I asked her about them. I have packed away all her clothes and dolls and she didn't mind. I told her she could still play with them if she asks me, but so far only once.

As far as a phone goes, we did just get her one, for emergency only. We got a freebie with our new contract. She will only have it at sleepovers, practices, etc when we aren't there.

I have a 13 yr old. She has been asking for a coach purse. I have been hesitant on principal not on cost. Now that I see others are getting them, I wonder if I should reconsider. DD is more teen then tween so it is really hard to get her stuff.

Thanks for the help with this.

I thought real hard also about allowing DD to get one. This will be her third Coach item since she already has a purse and a clutch. She honestly treats them like gold. For the first one we shopped at the outlet and after I said no to many we finally found one to purchase. It cost $39 and she paid for it with her birthday money. The clutch I bought for $19 and the purse for Christmas cost $29. At these prices I really do not mind. As far as the principal I feel like I have helped her learn that with frugal shopping she can have the items she wants. I have no problem with her wanting finer things in life as long as it never becomes a "need" or even a demand. She is perfectly happy with a sweater from Target as she is with Hollister. As long as it stays that way she will continue to receive name brand items (bought on clearance of course). Besides, I have seen many purses at Target cost as much as I have paid for her Coach. I would rather have a quality purse than a piece of junk since she takes such good care of her things.
