I just found out 2 minutes ago about the new DVC units goint up at Eagle Pines! WOW!
Where exactly is Eagle Pines, what's it near??? and can someone direct me to some info on the new villas??!!

thanks!!! :)

always something going on at Disney, huh??? :)

Laura :)

Generally it is to the east of Fort Wilderness and to the north of OKW/Port Orleans/Riverside.......two golf courses are there: Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge.....

I 'm wondering if the new dvc will be on the shore of bay lake, around the corner from ft. wilderness (sort of opposite the contemporary). I think that would be cool.

I can't find a good map but it isn't far from OKW or Ft. Wilderness. If you come out of OKW onto Bonnett Creek and turn right...go to the end of the road and turn left you'll be there. It's the way the bus usually goes to the MK from OKW.

You can see it on Mapquest but I can't seem to get the link to work. Sorry.

Hi Princess Angel! PamOKW posted a great article about the new DVC resort--with a really neat picture rendition of what it's supposed to look like and it is gorgeous!! I know it's posted somewhere here on the DVC board so you can check it out.

And by the way...WELCOME BACK!!! Did you have a blast? Wasn't the Aladdin ride awesome?!! YEAH!!!
:)

thanks for all the info! I read all the threads regarding the new villas too!!!
so exciting!
It looks like a great location! probably a 5 minute bus ride to MK, and not too far from Epcot either!!!
I wish they wuld put a ferry to MK though! I really don't like bus only transportation. I don't mind them to some destianations, but not everywhere!
and I refuse to rent a car on vacation, to me driving on vacation is worse than taking a bus!

That's why we love the BWV so much!!! Location!!! :)

we definately plan on doing an add on, at this point we will still probably either buy at BCV, or buy a resale at BWV. I think we really want BWV.

who knows though, it's a little to early to tell just how awesome the new Eagle Pine Villas will be!

Princssjas, we did have a fantastic time!!! the YC was gorgeous! concierge was great, and Storm a long Bay is everything it is cracked up to be!!! I loved it!!! we absolutely did have a blast!!!!!!!!!

By looking at the map, I can't see how Eagle Pines can have a water front location. It seems to be too far away from Bay Lake. I am assuming that it will be to the left of Eagle Pines, as there is not enough land between FW and Eagle Pines to build a 600 room resort, unless the campsites are in the resort's back yard. Further, the Bonnet Creek and Osprey Ridge courses are in between Eagle Pines and Bay Lake, so Water frontage on Bay Lake seems out of the question ! It looks like this will be the first DVC without any water !!??!!

I just went to yahoo and got a map for 'lake buena vista, fl" it centers very close to eagle pines and their map clearly shows a canal connected to Bay lake. So maybe it willl have canal access like OKW to DD?

I've never been to any of the golf courses at WDW but the yahoo map makes it look as though the canal runs right through the eagle pines course- so i think that it would be a decent possibility that there could be a canal boat.

If you want some wild speculation- and assume they cant built in the footprint of the golf course, but rather next to it someplace.... on the yahoo map it looks as if they were to build along the canal and north of eagle pines, theres a sliver of space about the size of OKW between FW and the osprey ridge golf course fronting on the lake.

Of course i'd think they would trumpet the fact that it was located on the lake in the press release if that were to be the case.

...unless of course they were afraid a new resort similar to OKW with direct boat service to MK would hurt future sales at BC....

Yes, from looking at the map at the golf courses, you are right - I was hoping that it would be closer to the lake, on the shore line around the corner from Ft. Wilderenss. That would be an awesome spot for a new resort.

I guess we will have to wait and look at the site plans on where the buildings will be located. Right now though, my impression is this will be a 'dry' resort. That is no waterfront or marina. Sorry MIKEK, but the cannal you are referring to would be expensive to widen and deepen to get a ferry in to. A launch, maybe, but a launch for a 600 room resort would be crowded, and may not meet the needs of the resort. Well.....at least we have something to talk about and speculate on for the next 4 years. I wonder when they will start breaking ground ?

DVCDAVE bummer- like I said was never there.

wishful thinking.

little aside- found it on AAA map- the little canal is actually "Bonnet CreeK".
