What is Disney doing to keep everyone safe?

So what does the red area mean?
Copied from NCL:

ENHANCED SCREENING PROTOCOLS
All guests will undergo an enhanced pre-embarkation health screening, and those considered at risk will undergo additional screening. Additionally, all crew will undergo extensive screening prior to embarkation and constant monitoring throughout the voyage. Touchless temperature checks and continuous monitoring of guests and crew throughout the voyage will help identify potential health issues, offering an additional layer of prevention and protection.
  • Temperature Screenings
    Touchless temperature checks will occur:
    • Prior to embarkation
    • Upon returning to the ship from a port of call
    • Prior to all meals in dining venues
    • Prior to all activities in public venues
    • Prior to disembarkation
  • Crew Screenings
A healthy crew helps ensure healthy guests. Constant monitoring of crew health includes temperature checks multiple times per day as well as rigid sanitation protocols

We’re enhancing our existing Pre-Employment Medical Examination process, which already screens for a wide variety of infectious diseases, to ensure the health and safety of our crew. We’re exploring on board testing capabilities that will allow crew members to undergo the latest, most advanced form of COVID-19 testing at any time throughout their employment contract

So it doesn’t mention how/what those at risk extra stops will be. Does it?

I'm sure that will be explained further at some point prior to cruising starting up again. I don't sail any NCL (anymore) but was just wondering what Disney plans to do.

I have cancer so I’m “at risk” and can’t work or be in public during the pandemic. So I really want to know if they want me to produce something prior to arrival. At one point I knew somebody in Europe wanted a letter from their doctor before they could sail. Maybe they’ll take my blood pressure or see if my diabetic numbers are under control. It just so darn vague I can’t figure out what the heck they would want!
I’m just hoping other people here can come up with possibilities of what “additional screening” actually mean. I don’t want to think I got kicked off my cruise because I had a coffee with a flavored creamer in the morning, lol.

I agree and I'm sure that that will either be explained further or you will have an opportunity to call and ask. Possibly passengers will have to fill out a health form? I'm not sure how that would work considering all the privacy regulations though. I believe this was just NCL assuring their passengers that they're working on keeping everyone safe.

Of course, it's speculation but I don't believe we'll be seeing any cruises from here this year. Stay safe!

There is a Youtube video showing what to expect when Cruising post-Covid. Probably doesn't show it all, however it shows a demonstration of them doing an actual Covid test (saliva not the nose swab) which has a 15 minute turn around time. Not sure how accurate it is, however the video touched on many of the questions Disney sent out in their survey. The video was not made by Disney, it did show stock footage of Disney as well as other Cruise Lines.

I was looking at the new WDW entry requirements the other day and it stated that those with a temperature of 100.4 would be sent to another area for retesting. This might be what DCL is addressing -- anyone with a temperature, or a cough, or other indication of possible illness.

I'm so so sorry you are dealing with cancer and wish you all the best. I was just curious if I read this correctly or missed some additional context. Are you saying you can't go to work or be out in public due to your high health risk because of cancer and diabetes but you are planning to go on a cruise ship?

Before cruising shut down, NCL had implemented a policy that anyone over a certain age ( I believe it was 70) had to have a doctor fill out a form stating that they were fit to travel. I remember a lot of angst over on Cruise Critic over it as well as a lot of debate over whether or not a doctor would even be willing to provide that due to liability issues. Within a few days, it was a moot point as everything shut down anyway.

It will be interesting to see what cruise lines will require going forward. But I agree with @KashasMom that when the time comes to reopen cruising, the cruise lines will be very clear on what documentation (if any) is required. Right now, it's just too soon to tell what that will be.

Stay safe!

Yes, I do plan to cruise as soon as the vaccine is out. And since safety measures will be in place for a while (40% of people will choose never to receive the vaccine).
And I can go back to work (I think) once the shot is available. I will try to get confirmation on that next week when I see the doctor again, fingers crossed.

Yeah, that’s part of why I’m wondering.
Do I need to be concerned about salty sausage and coffee in the morning? I don’t want my blood pressure to get me kicked off the ship. Lol.

Sounds like all the "screening" will make you sick. next will be a Lysol spray ever 4 hours.

All this might seem to be taking much of the fun away from cruising. Imagine a buffet now?? The on board theater?? Or just trying to get back on board after a shore excursion.

I love buffets but honestly I wouldn't have any problem with someone serving the food. I mean...have you seen how yucky some people are at the buffet? :D

I see a line streaming down the entire pier and people passing out from heat standing in the sun. Boarding just before departure was never great but this will be miserable.

I didnt even think about how this will affect all aboard timing. Blech.
