They say they have worked hard to fight images of high-pressure salesmen in white shoes and gold chains, a reputation that dogged the timeshare industry in the 1980s. Industry leaders such as French resort group Accor and American giants Disney and TrendWest have embraced the Gold Coast over the past few years.

RCI is another key player, ranked among the largest exchange companies in the world and its base on the Gold Coast plans 50,000 holidays annually.

So what's up?? What projects might Disney/DVC have in AU?

I read that differently than you. It sounded to me that the author was stating that Disney's entrance into timeshare helped change the negative impression that timeshare once had, not that Disney was planning anything in Australia. It would be nice to have an overseas DVC, though, wouldn't it? I often wondered why Disney helped Marriott build a timeshare right across from Disney Paris, rather than build there themselves.
