What is cool or interesting about your neighborhood?

I live in Liberty Square!! Not the Disney one of course - but some of our architectural details look the same - no haunted houses though. :( It is a nice and small neighborhood and very popular for Halloween!

We'll be there to see Styx in a few weeks! Love having concerts close to home.

The town that I grew up in is the same town that Jimmy Young lived in during the 70's and 80's. I went to high school with Jimmy's nephew. Styx offered to play at our prom in '82 as a gift to his nephew but we couldn't find a hall that would rent us the space. They were afraid of the crowds and problems that they might have caused.

He lived just a few blocks from Steve Dahl (radio personality in the Chicago area responsibly for "disco demolition") and they would both come into the White Hen where my sister worked and I hung out at. It was pretty cool especially to use teenagers.

We also had some of the band members from Three Dog Night living down the street from us. I babysat for them a few times. It was pretty cool to see gold records on their walls. That was probably in the late 70's.

Much better than the interesting neighbor where I live now~ Drew Peterson, the ex-cop accused of killing his second wife and person of interest in the disappearance of his third wife.

The beginning scenes of the second Transformers movie were filmed in my town at the old Bethlehem Steel plant, before it became a casino. My DH and boys went down a couple to times to watch. It was pretty cool, with the helicopters and stuff flying overhead.

Just did that for Transformers 3 here in Chicago last weekend!:thumbsup2 It was a blast ( literally ;))

Sky View... I figured you'd like this Luvchefmic! ;)

They filmed almost every outdoor scene in 10 Things I Hate About You here.

Only outdoor scenes I can think of that were filmed outside this neighborhood were the outdoor shots of the house (which is just over in another neighborhood in Tacoma) and when they are running around the big park, which is actually in Seattle.

And I was reminded....

Well in my actual neighborhood lately our claims to fame are:
1. Having some guy bury 2 dead bodies in the sump

...that Ted Bundy lived here for awhile. I knew a woman whose mom spent time on a Republican committee with him, going door to door handing out flyers with him. Yikes! Lucky for her she didn't seem to fit his "profile".

Every time a Philadelphia sports team has even the slightest chance of winning any 'important' game, the city has to grease the lampposts down the street from me to keep people from climbing them. It's a good idea, but it doesn't always work

There are well over 20 bars on one street alone. Much more within walking distance in any direction.

I hate it here. :headache:

Cottman Ave...I always hear that street name when I watch channel 6 Action News! LOL :lmao:

My neighborhood itself isn't all that interesting I suppose, but I love it. We were told straight off the bat that instead of putting in a pool, tennis courts, a club house, etc. they wanted to focus on keeping the trees. So we have a nature trail through the neighborhood and lots of trees and ponds. Granted, we also have alligators and ginormous spiders but that just makes it an adventure.

Though it's not in the specific neighborhood, we do have a lot of things filmed here. Since I've been living here I know at least parts of The Patriot, Mona Lisa Smile and The Notebook have been filmed around here. And the show Army Wives films right by where I work, and I do mean right by where I work. They were using our parking lot a month or two ago. We frequently have announcements over the intercom letting us know that they'll be filming so we should make sure to come in early to avoid traffic issues.

I've got the next Yankee Candle coming less than 1/2 a mile from my house. Michael Kittridge(founder/original owner of Yankee Candle Co.)has just bought up a bunch of buildings/land for his 19YO DS to develop his OWN candle company. Yippee!(I mean that sarcastically). We are right on the edge of a tiny rural town and I really don't want the traffic right outside my house. So, watch for news on Kringle Candle, folks. P.S. I will probably have a lovely, well-maintained ranch house for sale before too long......
