what is confirmed reservation???

this may be a crazy stupid question, but what exactly is a confirmed reservation? Ive booked and put down a 200 dollar deposit, I have confirmation number, is that a confirmed reservation? Or do i need to paid in full?

I thought package balances were due 45 days before check in.
