What is "bump"?

I see "bump" in threads and have no clue. Please tell me?

people will "bump" threads to bring them to the top of the "thread list".

As people post to a thread that thread is automatically put at the top of the thread list....and other threads get pushed down the list.....the words bump or bumping up just means someone is bringing that thread back to the top of the list but may not want to post anything. People do this to keep a certain thread current.

I think some people do not know that they can subscribe to a thread and get e-mail updates when someone adds a new post. It is at the bottom of the thread and says SUBSCRIBE ....

I like to do that so I can check back later on threads I am interested in. The e-mail gives a direct link to the thread. I call them "clickable links". Very easy to use.
